  1. bump p.s. we will be playing amsterdam!
  2. obligatory bump! anyone going? we are planning to play amsterdam! the song that is..
  3. Thankyou you very much CJ!
  4. Yeah it depends which part of London you're in. We're coming down on the train from Liverpool and then getting a train from Kings Cross to Watford, which takes about twenty minutes ;)
  5. Oh right, I thought you said something about him sounding false. All this time on the Internet is making me crazy! Anyway, whereabouts are you from Carol_Jade?
  6. Fair enough MF, it's costs a ridiculous amount to fly between the continents. VLC got offered a gig in New York last year, but we'd have to have gone hundreds of pounds out of pocket just to get there! Someone needs to sort it out... if only I knew someone who worked for Ryanair! How were CP at Wembley? I missed out on the tour with Jay-Z, it got mixed reviews from friends of mine who went to the Manchester show.
  7. Maggot Brain is a song by one of my favourite bands of all time, Funkadelic. If you're after a way to waste ten minutes - give it a listen > [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dh3bleXWaCk]YouTube- Funkadelic - Maggot Brain[/ame] It's basically a 9minute guitar wig out where the guitarist got told to play with the feel as if his mother had just died. Works for me!
  8. Hey Martin fan, thankyou for watching to vid and paying attention to our Chris's movements, I will pass on your seal of approval.. it will mean alot to him! It's a shame the vid quality is poor as that was an awesome show, lots of CP fans singing along the whole way through... and you might be able to tell I enjoyed it alot!
  9. From the Bull and Gate website "We don't book covers or tribute bands" :veryangry2: D'oh! I will give it a shot anyway. In the words of a great man: "If you never try, you never know!"
  10. That is really useful stuff, thankyou very much indeed! Alot of those venues I'd never heard of so I'll drop them a line this afternoon. The problem with London is that it's not really a huge tribute act place, but there's no harm in trying. I may mention that the Coldplay fans are about town and that may give us some leverage :) Isn't the bull and gate the place were Coldplay got offered a record deal?
  11. Haha, I'm sorry to have to say this but I fear you may be waiting a while! ANY other request, for sure! *waits to get a request to play something by the Nappies....*
  12. Agh gutted, unfortunately we're taking the first two weeks of May out from the band so I can do my exams - I'm training to be an accountant (it's a lot less fun than Coldplay, I can assure you). Keep in touch!
  13. I see! Always nice to hear about a bunch of Coldplay fans uniting for the love of the cause, nice work ;) Here's our current gig list if you fancy having a look > http://www.vivalacoldplay.co.uk/allgigs.htm Unfortunately all our gigs in the month of July are in the North-West of England, which judging by the flag by your username might make things a bit difficult for you! (We've just confirmed a new one on the 24th July in Swindon which is near the South-West, if that helps at all!) However, if you know of any music venues by where you live/where you're meeting the Coldplayers I will send a few e-mails out and see if I can get VLC a gig. It will give me something to do to while away the lonely hours :snore:
  14. Great stuff, if you do come feel free to introduce yourself.. I'm in the Johnny role!
  15. Hi there, I'm posting on behalf of the Coldplay act Viva la Coldplay. We are doing a show at the Horns in Watford on the Thursday 20th May and would love it if some of you came along. The details of the gig can be found on this page > http://www.lemonrock.com/horns?page=gigs&month=1 We'll be starting at 9PM and it costs £10 to get in (£8 if you book in advance). It's a renowned venue with a great sound and is only a short walk from both Watford High St. and Watford Junction. I know alot of people are very sceptical about the idea of a tribute act, but we're not really impersonators or imposters of anything like that. We do our bit with the same stage set-up as Coldplay and we dress in the French Revolution theme jackets as in the recent tour, but our main aim is to do the music as much justice as possible. It's a good fun show we put on and we're all enourmous fans of the band, to the point of obsession, and if anyone chooses to come along I believe this will certainly come across. For those who are interested, this is the set we've been using recently (usually we play 2 halves of 45 minutes). There's alot of stuff we have in the can that we don't often play (usually because alot of our gigs aren't to fans of Coldplay), and if anyone plans to attend and wants to hear something specific, we would love to hear your requests! First Half Square One Lovers In Japan Violet Hill The Hardest Part What If Green Eyes Don't Panic Shiver Speed Of Sound Second Half Talk In My Place God Put A Smile Lost! Viva la Vida Yellow The Scientist Clocks Fix You Our web page is http://www.vivalacoldplay.co.uk and I would love to hear some feedback, whether it be positive or negative. Gareth//Viva la Coldplay P.S. I know this is a report from another part of the site, I just got greedy!
  16. Whilst Will is a legend who deserves to be worshipped as hard as he hits a snare drum, I could forgive someone for not knowing the names of the band members. I guess sometimes you just have to submit that people aren't that interested :snore:
  17. Nice one busy, I have made a mental note :)
  18. hey Roche, thankyou for the lovely feedback and for taking the time to check out our web page. Really appreciate it!
  19. Haha, I agree. You'd be suprised how little some people know. As we have to play do alot of local pub gigs to keep us ticking over you get alot of punters wandering in not really knowing what's going on. You'd be suprised how many times I've been asked to play Wonderwall despite wearing a French revolution jacket and standing in front of a big banner saying 'Viva la Coldplay' on it. Hopefully the tributes out there playing to Coldplay novices are doing a good job of opening people's ears and getting them onto the band.
  20. Lol, I think it would be quite a cool live tune, but we could risk alienating most Coldplay fans, never mind the ones who think Fix You is called Fix It.
  21. Ah, we do play it actually. Although as we have a problem of playing to punters who don't know anything bar the big singles, we find that people will just use the quietness of the intro to have a conversation. Pisses me right off, but they soon shut up when we kick in for the powerful ending :) If you come then we will stick it in the set, will be nice to have some people in who appreciate the greatness of Amsterdam!

  23. You're right, the keys for Lovers and Viva are both played on backing tracks. They've always done this with the odd synth/organ/string part, also a lashing of guitar (Square One live, anyone?) here and there, but in the most recent tour their cheating is unparalelled. They even mime the backing vocals on Viva and Lost... I think! (It sounds FAR too much like the recorded version for me)
  24. Well we have a few London dates in the pipeline you may be interested to hear Tonsu, trying to organize dates in Watford and Ruislip (which are tube-able as far as I'm aware)... However, if you do get round to organizing a Coldplayers gig that would be awesome. I've heard Monto Water Rats in Kings Cross is quite cheap to hire and they get a cracking sound. By all means put Viva la Coldplay forward as your act! Thanks for the kind words anyway guys, Gareth//VLC http://www.vivalacoldplay.co.uk
