  1. Glasvegas I Was A Cub Scout Get listening!
  2. Lift To Experience and especially iLiKETRAiNS. Get not the album by the latter, but the E.P. called Progress - Reform, which is fantastic.
  3. maggotbrain replied to Sienna's topic in Coldplay
doesn't really shed any light for me
  4. I think some people don't like having to think about music while they're enjoying. They like something that's easy to get into and easy to listen to. That's why there's a Facebook group called 'Is it just me but do Radiohead suck?'. When I DJ I mostly get asked for what's at the top of the chart, largely because alot of people don't want to be challenged or engaged by music, or even have to look for it, they've rather just latch onto what's in, and then pursue other activities! This isn't me by the way, Radiohead are fantastic and I can't stand that awful Basshunter tune!
  5. That's very hard.. Bands who'd class as similar to Coldplay that I'm mad on are U2, Elbow, Doves, Razorlight, Keane, Embrace and Radiohead. However, my other best are Engineers, The Music, Incubus, Funkadelic, Talk Talk, Pink Floyd and Slowdive.
  6. I haven't bought CDs in an age, I'm a Napster addict. However, the last thing I downloaded and really got into was 23 by Blonde Redhead. Thoroughly recommended. Also Heart Of by the The Congos, however that's only for those who can tolerate reggae.
  7. Fingers crossed. However, they have already made some mind-blowing, startling music and I still don't know that many people who will give them a chance. And believe me, I've tried to convert them!
  8. Totally agree about the courteneers, everyone's going mad for them at the minute and they just sound like The Libertines, Kooks, any stripped-down pop-guitar band but without the character. One Night Only and Palladium are other good hints, not that they're anything more than above average.
  9. I can't really hear it myself.. but I can see what you mean with the way Dan (the singer) using the high falsetto on his voice alot. Anyway that can hardly be a bad thing for a Coldplay tribute act!
  10. Cheers mate! I thought the stuff was probably a bit too 'rock' to be likened to Coldplay, but after playing all their songs every week it's probably a hard spell to get out of. I'll look out for the add.. what's on the album?
  11. I would've thought they meant the same thing. Lesson learnt!
  12. Personally I think it's more dumb to respond to a 'next big thing' questionnaire with Coldplay, Oasis, Keane, Snow Patrol and U2. But maybe that's because I'm a newbie.. hopefully in a thousand's post time I'll be clever enough to spell 'but' wrong!
  13. Coldplay Oasis and U2 are already massive you fools
  14. Alberta Cross, Courteneers, British Sea Power (not new, but their new album is a beast), Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong. Anyone got any others? Also I think Metric might take off a bit more.
  15. www.myspace.com/daniellloydmusic I'm a Coldplay tribute band from Liverpool called Square One and recently we decided to do a demo of stuff written by our very own "Chris Martin". Opinions would be lovely.
  16. Yeah you're right, by that point shoegazing had died down completely and grunge was on it's way out... but it was the whole Britpop phase that really got RH noticed.
  17. Boss Shoegazer Songs Cocteau Twins - Carolyn's Fingers, Bluebeard Slowdive - When The Sun Hits, Souvlaki Space Station Amusement Parks On Fire - Venus In Cancer, In Flight Verve - Gravity Grave, Slide Away, A Man Called Sun Spiritualized - Shine A Light Ride - Seagull, Vapour Trail Engineers - Said And Done, One In Seven Giant Drag - Kevin Is Gay MBV - To Here Knows When, Sometimes, Blown A Wish For me this summarizes 90s and post 90s shoegaze. Get on these tracks!
  18. The joke failed the first time, why give it a second run? Personally I think it's great. All the sounds that make Coldplay as epic as they are are there. Okay, so the singing isn't exactly accurate, but Chris Martin's is a voice you either have or you don't. Nonetheless they sound a whole lot better than the other Coldplay tributes out there who just sound like polyphonic ringtones.
  19. What does 'imo' stand for, if you pardon my naivety?
