4-Mar-2009: Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, Australia - Tickets, Meetups, Reviews/Photos
I went to the Melbourne concert tonight (well last night now - 4/3/9), and my seats were right next to the mini stage they used when they performed in the audience. AMAZING. So close! It was a brilliant show. Loved it.

I was at the 3rd Melbourne concert too. Absolutely awesome. The very best show I've seen in I don't know how long. We had great seats - SOOOO close. Chris Martin is a fantastic performer. He's just so energetic and never misses a note. But how that 1 band can make that great sound is beyond me. It was flawless - BETTER than CD quality. Unfortunately Rod Laver Arena is really lacking in atmosphere. We had the best time, but there's something about that place. It's just a bit cold. Melbourne could really do with a good concert venue. We didn't know about the Kylie cover version. Would have been interesting. But we love Swallowed In The Sea so we were very happy with that. My brother got to touch one of the yellow balloons flying about - that was really fun. The girl next to him who went by herself seemed to think he was a good guy to sit next to!! :laugh3:  Shane Warne was a few rows behind us, and Chris sang about Warney being one of their best mates. We loved the way he add-libbed, like singing about having a VB at the MCG!!! And when he first asked the crowd to sing with him, he said "is there anything you Australians aren't good at?" And near the end he ran into the crowd and right up the back and top of the stadium, then he ran back down and sang a song without even puffing. Man that guy is fit!! Oh yeah, at the end of Yellow he jumped on a couple of the balloons on stage. The first one was ok, but the second one was on top of this effects unit on the floor so when it popped he landed right on it. So he said, "I have a tip for you. Don't try and burst a balloon in front of 10,00 people." Then he touched his chest and side where he landed on those things and said "it hurts like fuck"! Then he weaved that into the next song which was god puts a smile on your face where he said "i burst a balloon and fell flat on my face". Anyway, I could ramble on. It was just so great. Got some camera phone pix, but don't know how to post them here. Not very clear, but good shots of the great lighting. I'm jealous of everyone that got to see them more than once. They were definitely worth the wait. It was an EXCELLENT night. :D

Melbourne Parking? Hi guys, I'm a newbie here and I've got a question about the Melbourne concert for all those Melb people who regularly go to concerts at Rod Laver Arena. WHERE DO YOU PARK? I'm going to the Monday night concert and we're trying to figure out reliable parking so we don't have to worry about public transport that late at night. Does anyone have any suggestions? Glad everyone has been loving the concerts so far - Melbourne starts tonight so I'm looking forward to reading the feedback. Can't wait until Monday. :D
