  2. you should get the guitar to a local tech to check for the pickups and, electronics, etc. BTW, how old are the strings, when was the last setup. Sometimes you can forget how much the usual maintenance improves your sound. Do that before you go to buy expensive effects. First be happy with the sound of your exsting gear. If your guitar sounds shitty, no distortion will improve it. (It will only hide it;))
  3. first pedals I would suggest starting with a USED multi until u r familiar with the various sounds. USED, so it will be cheap. After you know the differences between distortion and overdrive, delay, phase, etc. buy the analog pedals. There is a simple website http://www.noiseon.com , with sound samples of many guitar effects. I like to go there and hear the effects when i'm looking for a specific tone.
