Help Oxfam America & See Coldplay! (Volunteer Discussion Thread)
I need to hear from people have ALREADY volunteered 4 OXFAM: I will be volunteering for Oxfam next Monday in Detroit and am very excited. I didn't know when I signed up that I would have a free ticket to get in. Now they said my husband can volunteer w/ me too, so now I have 2 extra tickets. I don't want to give them away if my Oxfam seats aren't as good as my purchased tickets, but Oxfam says they won't know where the seats are until the day of the concert. My tickets are for the middle of the floor. Where have the Oxfam volunteers been sitting thus far??? I know some are by the stage, but what's the worse I can expect? thanks, Robin

Coldplay on Saturday Night Live, 25th October 2008
Wow, glad I missed that! We turned off the tv after the 2nd song(HATE SNL due to their incredibly leftist view, like 99% of Hollywood/media) and I thought Coldplay:veryangry2: were done. If my husband would have heard Chris say that, I'd be looking for another date to the concert AND worse yet, I'd never hear the end of it. Now I'm worried because the show is the night before election so I'm sure comments will be made, should make for an interesting ride home...sheesh!

Help Oxfam America & See Coldplay! (Volunteer Discussion Thread)
does no one read the posts about their own?:wtf: 17-10-2008 12:52 AM Did you mean 'above' their own? Yeah I'm still trying to confirm if I need my ticket to get in, even though I realize I will have a reserved seat with Oxfam, but I would love to give my purchased ticket to my son. I emailed Oxfam and they didn't even answer the question. Don't want to get there and not be able to get him in. I am so excited though, nothing like this ever happens to me!

Help Oxfam America & See Coldplay! (Volunteer Discussion Thread)
Hey, I was selected for Michigan too!! I look forward to meeting you (Mandy?) I see the name Amanda on the Oxfam list. I just emailed my contact, after receiving my acceptance email this morning, I quickly started looking for another ticket as I was going to take my 8 yo son. This way, my husband can sit with our son while I do the Oxfam volunteering, and I would take his place with our son for the show(really want to see the look on his face as he loves Coldplay). But in the training module it looks like Oxfam volunteers have a reserved seat, is that how you understand it? If so, I am so excited, but mixed feelings as I really wanted to share this experience with my son. Do I need to buy another ticket?? thanks for any info, Robin

03-Nov-08: Detroit - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos [originally 05-Jul]
I agree.. How do those people that auction the tickets get them early? I almost did a "buy it now" auction on ebay for a code, but this was Fri and I was worried I wouldn't get the code in time and it would be a wasted $40. I've been to alot of concerts but never really cared about being close until this one. Most of the ones I've been to were small venues, gen admission or lawn, and that's where the fun is!! I was waiting at 10am, but with my slow internet I missed out on some good seats)none in the front three sections. My seats F row 12. Just for the heck of I kept checking for seats and ~ 11 am all the floor seats were sold out. Has anyone been to the palace? I saw Paul McCartney from the nosebleed section. Worth every penny because it was a dream come true, but very crowded in those damn seats! Hoping I'm sitting by some wild fans, cause I'm taking my husband who isn't too hip on going. Robin

Don't think I fit the the typical Coldplay fan profile..
Meetups thread? Bear with me, new to this, I copy and pasted my last post, but it didn't look like the others. Anyway...where is this meetups thread? Can't find it. thanks for your help. I am going to the concert, even if by myself. So bummed because it's my 20 yr class reunion that night too.:veryangry2: but there'll be another in 5 years, can't guarantee I'll get to see coldplay again though. Robin

I'm not a mom, but I'm 38...and what's this 'middle-age' crap? My best friend who got into Coldplay at the same time as me is now 51, and a mother of 2 college-age boys. So I don't really think there's a profile. I remember the olden days when older fans were all Coldplay had, lol. Anyway, sorry for the long post. Welcome and enjoy the forum! EDIT: And fear not. THere will be lots of people our age at the concert. I hope you go, and I hope you have a blast!! __________________ Thanks for the welcomes. Actually I have never referred to myself as middle-aged, just feel old around here. Reading the favorite groups post...never heard of 75% of them! Robin

Don't think I fit the the typical Coldplay fan profile..
I am a 37 yo mom to 6 boys, who is teased about loving Coldplay. As a matter of fact my oldest boys love to use that line on me from a movie, "You know how I know you're gay....you like Coldplay" (don't throw darts please!). Know what? That just makes me turn it up LOUDER, it's my house afterall. My 13yo has been caught humming "Voilet Hill"...HAH! I've converted one at least! Actually, the ONLY person I know IRL that likes Coldplay is my husband, I think they grew on him because I play them so much. Now I await for tickets to go on sale so I can go see them, but my husband isn't real crazy about seeing them as it's pretty expensive. I know he would go to make me happy, but would love to go with someone who loves them as much as I. Sorry for the long intro, am I the only middle-aged groupie here?
