    Kauai is in Hawaii which is a part of USA.. However there are many Hawaiians here who do not like that last fact and are trying to get nationhood back again. I wish them luck but the reality is that it is unlikely to happen. So... Kauai is a county in Hawaii which is a state in USA. --ken
