I do count them as poets! Some of them. I, for example, write poems, but they're intended to end up as lyrics for a song. Still I see them as poems. I'm not confident enough to write a poem as such, but if it's surrounded by music it's fine, because people don't pay attention exclusively to the words. Does that make any sense? By the way, that doesn't mean I see myself as a poet. I wish...
