If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next takes me back to 1998 which had been a pretty miserable year all round for me culminating in the Omagh bombing atrocity. This song was like a shining beacon to me and was what made me a Manics fan! The duet Celine Dion did with the Bee Gees 'Immortality' brings back sad memories for me of when my favourite racehorse One Man died and they showed clips of his races backed with this song on Ch 4 racing. I remember blubbing and so was Ch 4 Racing presenter Lesley Graham.

I wonder if eating beans would give a piper more puff? Always a thought! Not from that end though McSquared before you start!

Yeah! Always look forward to the pipers on Jool's Hootenanny! Love the fact you get a piper on nearly every street in Edinburgh. One band did send me to sleep literally on the way back from a trip to Alton Towers once (true!). My dream might have been all yellow but I can't remember the X&Y of it.......................................................

Er, yeah, whatever mate. Anyway, back to the music everybody else, on Parallel Tracks the Dragoon Guards are joined by Mark Knopfler for Going Home which just sounds amazing with the guitar and the bagpipes.

*yawn!* :rolleyes: Nothing like the sound of mass bagpipers! I'd always wanted a decent album of bagpipe music and these albums were right up my street! These guys are immensely talented!

Erm, but surely posting in any thread will 'promote it'? (Those Radiohead and Keane fans must be raking it in!). Well Mr McSquared why don't you go and check out Spirit Of The Glen instead of just knocking it without even bothering to listen to it. The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards have just as much a right to be mentioned on a music forum as any other band or artist. If the music doesn't interest you please don't bother posting just to snipe. Judging by the website address in your sig I take it you are a Manics fan? If so I'm ashamed of you. I'm a girl by the way! ;)

Thank you! Some common sense! If you haven't got these albums I recommend them mightily! Regarding posting threads after making a couple of posts, as long as you are not flooding a forum (learnt that lesson!) or unnecessarily bumping threads then I don't see what the problem is really! I did the necessary checks to make sure there wasn't a similar thread. There also seems to be a bit of disregard for the hard work these guys are doing whilst also being such amazing musicians. A little bit of respect please.

As this forum is called The World Of Music! If you like bagpipe music or just something a bit different I definitely recommend their Spirit Of The Glen, Parallel Tracks and latest Spirit Of The Glen: Journey albums. The new one was recorded in Basra, Iraq which is quite incredible considering the temperatures over there and of course the constant dangers. Excellent stuff!

I discovered them with This Is My Truth so it will always have a special place in my heart. I love them all though! Noticed on a lot of forums people calling them boring/bland etc, especially the newer stuff and that is so not true! Anyone who has't checked them out yet please do! You won't regret it!
