  1. When I saw them in November for VLV tour, I saw 2 Hiwatt heads and a Hiwatt Cab. this is consistent with other VLA Arena footage. As far as the TOTP video, that could have been a special occasion or an endorsement or something, but I have never seen GUY or JOHNNY use Marshall's not to mention that in my opinion it doesn't really go with the sound.
  2. Hi herrijt, First, I would keep in mind that the VLV tour contains some different tonal characteristics for all of the instruments than the previous tours. On this album, the acoustics are far more treble + harsh (in a good way) -sounding. The quality of the guitar is not so important as much as the EQ being applied. Also, note that Chris uses that painted guitar instead of his quality Martins or Gibsons (both which have a nice pick up system on board). Notice that these painted guitars have a lower quality installable pickup instead. It is also reasonable to assume that the painted guitar is of lower quality than usual standards. Never the less, the acoustics are full of spring and punch due to a good use of hi eq and compression. I would assume that the chain would be from the acoustic/wireless to some rack processing and then to the board. At least I can't hear any pedals and have no reason to assume that he is using them. Hope this helps, and I agree it does sound awesome during VH. Sincerely, Steven
  3. Hi toole13, I think they have backing tracks on most if not all of their songs. At the same time, the pianos and keys are turned up just enough to be acknowledged their presence. This way, Chris can go play them when their is a break in the singing and then he can leave and walk around and the riff is still there. I actually made a thread about their use of backing tracks. Hope this helps.
  4. Coldplay's live sound has really gotten "full" sounding over the years - especially with the VLV tour. If you listen closely, you can hear original tracks being played from the album: tambourines, organ, synths, guitars, even vocals. What does everyone think about this??
