I'd say after more than 30 years of war where death is just so present every day people have learned to know how to enjoy their life, go out, make friends, have fun, they don't have the patience to wait until they have enough money to go on that trip they always wanted to take or buy that expensive car they dream about...banks here would give you a loan to do absolutely anything (even plastic surgery) because the mentality of not being sure if there will be a tomorrow so you have to make the best of now has become a huge part of who we are. (same goes for why they care more about making fast money).
