X&Y Appreciation Thread
I am new to this forum and joined to rave about seeing them live in Sydney on March 15th. Iv'e gone from just liking them to a massive fan. They even come close to my all time favourite band oasis, Yes I was guilty of underestimating them but I now think they are hugely under estimated, I have all four albums (all brought when they came out so I brought Parachutes in 2000) but X&Y is still my favourite. I do get the feeling though, that it is regarded by the hard core fans as a blip on their copy book. I read descriptions like over produced, pop music, contrived not the coldplay sound et etc etc. But sorry I just love this album, it is up there with my favourites by any group, oasis, radiohead, U2, included. How can you not like it, I really don't understand. There is not one dud track on it. Then there are the epics: The Hardest Part (sublime) Fix You (that song builds so brilliantly) Speed Of Sound ( That drum break gets me every time) I love LOVE LOVE X&Y. I know I will be frowned upon by the coldplay purists for liking this album but I really don't understand why, I'm not trying to be provocitive here. To me if their albums were like paintings Parachutes and Rush of Blood would be delicate water colours whereas X&Y is a bold vividly coloured modern art piece in thick deep acrylics. Viva is a mixture. So for me I would rate them X&Y VLV ( Those epic stadium songs LIJ, Lost incredible) Parachutes = Rush of Blood I like my music epic and big sounding which may explain why I love X&Y so much. I still love the other albums though, don't get me wrong. I can't think of another band who has delivered 4 consecutive near flawless albums. Ps I put this thread in as I can't find any threads on X&Y- there appears to be some attempt to bury this album as if it never happened. BUT WHY, people it is amazing!!

Saw them on Saturday- Had not realised how brilliant they are
Since Saturdays concert I have turned into an avid Coldplay fan. I have been listening exclusively to their albums in my car to and from work and still love X&Y the most. I think it is a stunning album perhaps a first amongst equals. I think their next album will quite probably be the biggest selling album and downloaded in history.

Saw them on Saturday- Had not realised how brilliant they are
I saw Coldpaly on Saturday at Sydney's Acer Arena. I have all of their albums but have never been a huge fan, yes I thought they were good. Well I was blown away, totally. What a brilliant concert. I have seen lots of groups including oasis and U2 both three times. Coldplay trumped them easily and this was the best concert I have seen. I had not really appreciated their music before. I actually listened to the lyrics and when they did Fix You, The Scientist and The Hardest Part I just struck a chord. I love all their albums and have been listening to them exclusively all this week. One question though is that I would say X&Y is my favourite but it's onside4ed their worst. It's great when you are running. I love all those big stadium sounding songs. Why do people hate this one so much??
