  1. Yes, hard to believe. Hi, Diane. Yes, it's hard believe it's been a year already since the Coldplay concert in Tampa that never happened. It's disappointing that they didn't swing over to Florida while they were touring in Mexico. I expected them to make good on it, but they probably had bigger shows to play south of the border. It seems they played all stadiums after the 2nd U.S. tour, in Europe, Mexico, and South America. I don't think I'd even want to see them in a venue larger than the U.S. amphitheatres, and I'll never sit in an upper level seat again after seeing them up close. What an experience that was! I still have a free ticket voucher that I have to ticket by 8/16/10. I got it on my trip to Torrance last year when the flight was overbooked. How I wish I could see Chris Martin and Coldplay again!
  2. I've received similar fictitious or inaccurate announcements of Coldplay concerts before. I suspect that the web site is trying to just get visitors, hoping that people will click on their ads and buy tix for another show. Since this show still does not appear on Coldplay's web site, it must be fake.
  3. Yeahhright, and NumbersGirl, you make excellent points that are well-taken. Coldplay, and especially Chris are very intelligent. If they borrowed the tune, they had permission. If they didn't, then it's an original work. I'm aware that they have been very careful in the past to obtain permission for melodies they wanted to use, such as they did for "Talk" from Kraftwerk. They also work collaboratively with other artists to share influences, such as with Michael Stipe (REM) for The Hardest Part. Coldplay attributes the melody of Speed of Sound to Kate Bush, but I don't know what arrangement they made with her. I think they have many, many friends among other artists, who love them as much or more as their fans. The artists who have influenced them have never "grabbed" me or "touched me in a special place in the heart" as Coldplay has. Therefore, I consider all of their work to be incredibly original and unique, and touches a special place in the heart in a way that few other artists do.
  4. Why do you say it failed? Those lyrics are what it sounds Chris is singing to me! Great job! Here's a link to Roadie 42's clip on arriving and setting up for the BA concert: http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=592&page=0
  5. Ole, Ole! Great Song! I agree with those who love this new song. How could any song with as beautiful voice as Chris' and with Coldplay's lively acoustic guitar playing not sound wonderful? The audience participation is also fantastic! [ame= ] [/ame] Also, please don't mention any similarities of the melody to other songs. They might have another artist like Sartriani causing them legal trouble. I think all of us Coldplay lovers wish for Coldplay to avoid legal harassment and personal heartaches. We are convinced that Coldplay's music is unique and original. And they give full credit for inspiration where credit is due. Even if it sounded like another song, I would not say so publicly.
  6. "Happy Birthday, Chris" These things are probably Chris' decisions. He seems to make most of the calls for the show, and he always seems to be trying to share the spotlight with the other band members, not purposely take as he would if they sang him "Happy Birthday" and brought him cake. As the front man, he's usually the focus of attention and he seems to try to diffuse his prominence by frequently acknowledging the others, especially Jonny and Will. He knows enough people have their eyes glued to Guy already, pleasantly staring at him! I wish Chris were not so humble and modest, but I think he's intelligent to keep a soft, lovable demeanor, and probably is why he seems to be such likeable, pleasant guy because he is.
  7. Happy Birthday, Chris! Chris Martin turns 33 years old on March 2, 2010. He will be singing, playing, and dancing a concert on his birthday! 02/03/10: Sao Paulo - Brazil Morumbi Stadium I wonder if Phil will have cake for him as he did for the other band members' birthdays, and who will lead the audience to sing "Happy Birthday" for Chris.
  8. Whether it sucks of not, I have to give Chris and Coldplay credit for their courage to try out a new song in front of 50,000 people (the number attending the show in Buenos Aires, according to Roadie 42.) Chris is fearless to just perform in front of that many people, much less to try a new song.
  9. Greetings! Hi, Diane! Is it raining there too? "Oh, Rainy Days..." Glad to see you're following the SA tour! A Youtube friend of mine, Odalis, went to tonight's show in BA. She is a sweetheart, and fellow die-hard Coldplay fan. Her SID is "odasoup" on Youtube. I invited her to this forum, so maybe we'll hear from her.
  10. walking on clouds For 2 weeks afterward my Coldplay concert experience, I felt as if I was walking on clouds, and my feet were pleasantly numb. I felt a natural high and love for everything and everyone ! Viva La Vida! So, the new song was "Don Quixote?" "OLE!"
  11. Fake Announcement Livekick.com shows a Coldplay show on Aug. 9, 2010 but the venue web site doesn't show it. Coldplay's web site says nothing about it either. We don't want to believe it, but looks as if someone is teasing us Coldplay lovers. Fake announcement at: http://livekick.com/show/Coldplay/Tampa/FL/8-9-10-07.30-PM
  12. I think that 1) the Grammys didn't ask Coldpaly to perform; 2) from that, Colplay got the message that they hadn't won anything; and 3) they figured, "Why waste our time going if we didn't win anything?" They are smart not to go, but it was sad that they weren't there. The Grammys should have nominated them for more. At least, last year their true genius was officially recognized with 3 awards, and they should have won more of the 7 nominations they received then. True beauty/genius is often obscured behind the plastic fake material the pushes itself out into the front. I'm happy that Coldplay's subtle sweetness behind its big rock band sound was recognized last year and that they were at least nominated this year for 2 categories.
  13. I haven't found verification, but ran across this cute clip of Chris recording his part on an upcoming Simpsons: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3C8IqsXXQY&feature=player_embedded]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3C8IqsXXQY&feature=player_embedded[/ame] I haven't found any other news about a Coldplay show in Tampa on AUG-9-2010. A Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival show is scheduled for AUG 10, but nothing shown for AUG 9 and no mention of Coldplay. Hopefully, it is still in the works, but doesn't look promising now.
  14. Yeah, I'm trying to verify it now... looking on the Colplay.com web site, haven't found anything yet. :(
  15. Does anyone know why it says "Courtyard" at Ford Amphitheatre ? The venue info shows that it is the same as the Amphitheatre.
