  1. Angie, I'd love to hear your account of Wembley, too. Please post the link to your blog when you get it done. Thanks!
  2. At the risk of not sounding very manly, the clip of tonight's Wembley VLV sing along brought tears to my eyes.
  3. The Gods Cry over Coldplay's Finale Concert! It was really raining during part of tonight's Wembley concert. Be glad if you stayed dry tonight:
  4. No, but I was very fortunate to see them at the Wheatland, Ca concert back in July. We had great seats and could see them from right behind the pit. I understand why so many people say that going to a Coldplay concert was "the best night of their lives." It was truly magical night for me that left my whole body feeling tingley and pleasantly numb for over a week. I can imagine that Wembley finale concert was especially moving. The clip they have on the coldplay.com Wembley photo blog at http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=516 of the Viva La Vida sing along at tonight's concert was especially spirited and moving because it was the audience's way of expressing its love for Coldplay.
  5. They probably have to dry out first, sitting by the fire, having a hot tea... Link to photoblog of tonight's concert: http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=516 The concert looked very passionate and emotionally moving, marking the end of a very long worldwide odyssey/tour (over 14 months.)
  6. Photoblog of today's Wembley concert: http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=516 Check out the video of the Viva La Vida sing along. See if it doesn't brings tears to your eyes as it did mine. Huddle at the end of the concert, celebrating the end of Coldplay's long VLV tour/odyssey: Here's the pre-concert huddle, complete with Phil Harvey:
  7. It's raining at Wembley, but it has not dampened the crowd's spirit one bit. Some pics from the forum for today's Wembley show taken from a great view of the stage, rare posts from the stadium gigs which usually show the stage a mile away: Chris is such a natural person.
  8. Dianne found that the gross proceeds of the concerts of the recent North American tour totaled $82 million. It's disheartening to think of all the hard work it takes on the part of the band and production company to produce that amount of revenue, and all the happiness they've brought people. At the same time, the U. S. government spends over $1 BILLION PER DAY on the military, wasteful spending and damaging to the enviroment. Wars are very destructive of life and property, although having a strong military can also be a deterrant to war if other countries are afraid to attack us. Sorry that's my political rant for today. I like Coldplay because they have been effective as artists, not as politicians. They take a very wise, subtle approach to the issues of our times and uplift millions of people in the process. Happy belated birthday, Dianne! Many happy returns!
  9. I don't know if they start the concerts there at the same time as in the U.S., but because of the time difference, the concert will be over in just a few short hours. Noon time on the west coast is 8 PM in London, it's almost 10 AM here in San Francisco, so the show could start in 3 hours if they open the show at about 9 PM as they did here. Then it will be over in 2 short hours! How exciting it must be for Tracey, and how sad for everyone else that the Viva La Vida tour will be over. I wish I were over there, stalking the Bakery and the band members' houses! :laugh3: "My song is love, is love unknown, and I've got to get that message home."
  10. Our hearts are with you on your journey. May you thorougly enjoy your trip and the concert!
  11. Great research, Dianne. You would be a great journalist. LN plays the same trick at all concerts, holding the best seats until last. Actually it is good marketing, to tap the highest demand buyers by selling them the least desirable seats at the highest price possible. We veteran concert-goers will know better next time. It pays to wait. Many artists are having problems with ticket sales. I just checked the Brad Paisley concerts at Shoreline and Wheatland. They have slashed the prices of premium tickets in half, not even bothering with "2 for 1" specials. At Shoreline, there are even a few pit tix in the back for $50, but it is a huge pit. I am not anxious to return to Shoreline because it took over an hour to get out of the parking lot. Apparently Wheatland is the place to get the best seats because it is such a long drive from the major city San Francisco that many people will choose to pass. For Brad Paisley on 9/26/09, it has section 103 seats available. Well, they did have a few minutes ago, but I just checked again and sec. 103 has now sold out. That is the center section right behind the pit with a great view of the stage. The point is that the recession has apparently hit many bands. It is simply amazing that Coldplay was able to sell out most of the venues they played for the VLV tour, a testament to their popularity and to the number of people who love them enough to pay to see them in concert. It's really quite amazing that they can command such a demand for live shows in this age of electronic freedom when anyone can see clips of their music on demand on Youtube.
  12. I understand how upset everyone is because, if they had canceled Wheatland, I would have been extremely upset, disappointed and frustrated. However, the cancelation of the Tampa show was probably not Coldplay's decision. There are producers, promoters, and sponsors that make these decisions. Having heard the reverence with which Chris Martin talks about Coldplay fans, I do not believe it was the band's decision to cancel the show or to impersonally send the e-mail as LiveNation did. On the positive side, canceling does give clarity instead of stretching the uncertainty out 4-6 months or more. That is one thing some people had said that they wanted, and now we have it. Contrary to what one poster suggested previously, this is not the first Coldplay show that has ever been outright canceled. In 2008, two shows that had been scheduled in the Bay area were canceled, one in Oakland and another in Sacramento. I was very afraid that the 7/14/09 Wheatland show would be canceled due to very poor sales, but LiveNation or the promoters instead held many special deals (mostly 2 for 1 and adding $40 and $50 reserved seats, which also qualified for the 2/1 sale) during the last weeks before the show to help sales at the venue. I have read that this had been a dismal year for sales, and it has affected Coldplay's shows as well. It is possible that the Tampa show was undersold to begin with. In contrast to Wheatland, LiveNation did not hold the same special deals that it did for Wheatland, so that might have been a factor in the cancelation. Edit: Specifically, I recall that about 1/3 of the pit in Tampa was still available about 2 weeks before the showdate, and many days after that, there were still some 20-30 seats available in the "orchestra" section of the floor (at the back of the pit.)
  13. Devastated I'm devastated. Although I didn't yet have a ticket for the show, I had a round trip voucher to pay for the air fare. Very sad, indeed. To cheer everyone up, here is a 6-song playlist of Coldplay Love Songs focusing on Chris’ Courtship/Marriage of Gwenyth, some with rare photos and the unpublished version of “Talk”, a song written for his brother: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6C56B48D27DC1B28 Sometimes fairy tales do come true, and one can only dream....
  14. I noticed it had a great pic of Will, the best I've ever seen. I read an interesting, strange trivia about Coldplay: Each member of the band is left-handed but they all play right-handed. In the video of Lovers in Japan, they are shown writing with their left hands, with the exception of Guy, who uses his right hand. But one commenter said they were all left-handed. Reggie/Starfish42 Coldplay = Love
  15. Coldplay - Talk / My Favorite Coldplay Pictures I just found my favorite video of Talk - Unreleased Version. it has the best pics of the band: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_AUKmHWPb8]YouTube - Coldplay - Talk / My Favorite Coldplay Pictures[/ame]
  16. Chris Hair Grows Fast! Hey, Tracey! Only 7 more days to Wembley?!!! I thought of you when I saw that Chris' curls have grown back (from Roadie #42 - Blog #103, September 11, 2009):
  17. Thank you! I hate the puppets too because they are a waste of time. Give me the real Coldplay!
  18. More Talk Alternate Version Videos Coincidentally, the poster of that video is named LaurenO27. I am trying to find a version that I have but have not located it on Youtube. It has excellent photos of the band, including Coldplay's winning at the 2009 Grammies. Here are a couple more videos of the alternate version of Talk with some nice pics of the band: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaOgR2MrD88&feature=related]YouTube - Coldplay - Talk (different version)[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm0acxyB5QU&feature=related]YouTube - Coldplay Talk unrealesed version[/ame] Thanks to all the diehard fans in this forum. It's good to know I'm not alone with my Coldplay obsession.
  19. Yes, his brother had been trying to reach him to talk to him about his impending marriage. Chris is singing from both his brother's and his own perspectives. The song makes a lot more sense now, doesn't it? I think this version is especially loving and gentle. It's a very positive and inspirational song because he's saying he can do whatever he wants. There is no limit to what one can achieve with creativity. Though the first part of these lyrics is not in this version, the other version says, "You can climb a ladder up to the sun, or write a song nobody has sung, or do something that's never been done." There is no limit to what you can do. I notice sometimes he writes songs from his others' perspective. I Ran Away, I think was written from the woman's perspective. "The stupid things you do..." sounds like the same reference in Trouble to, "And thought of all the stupid things I've done." 20. Coldplay Tribute-Talk (unreleased) I love this version of Talk, I think it sounds especially sweet and gentle as Chris counsels his brother about marriage and life in general, and a very nice tribute to Coldplay. I can't believe they never released this gem of a song. [ame= ] [/ame]
  21. Yes, I wanted to share it because I found it so very moving. My eyes got watery watching it.
  22. Gwyneth + Chris Martin + Fix You = A Living Fairy Tale An important part of the Coldplay/Chris Martin story: [ame= ] [/ame]
  23. One of my favorites is that of him as a child of 4-6 years of age. It's the sweetest child pic I've ever seen.
  24. Clocks with rare photos of Chris Martin. Clocks with rare photos of Chris Martin. [ame= ] [/ame]
  25. Sdcoldpalyfan: Here is a playlist of tutorials on how to play some Coldplay songs on piano: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=73E65927BDF01E3C Here is one of them showing how to play LIJ: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm6sXgiDd7k&feature=PlayList&p=73E65927BDF01E3C&index=10]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm6sXgiDd7k&feature=PlayList&p=73E65927BDF01E3C&index=10[/ame] My next purchase will be a keyboard.
