14-Jul-09: Sleep Train Amphitheater, Sacramento, CA - Tickets, Previews, Meetups, Reviews, Setlists,
The Attraction of the "Pit" I suppose you've already bought tickets for the "pit" or floor? As an ardent Coldplay fan as any, I understand the attraction of a space on the floor. You get to stand right in front of the band. see them up close, hope that they see you, dancing and jumping around as we groupies love to do. However, I'm only 5'5" and I would be unable to see much of the band if anyone of average height is in front of me. I doubt that I'd get there early enough to be at the front. That's why I'm not considering the floor. If "God" or the angels of destiny, or whatever you want to call Her, wills it, section 103 will open up and I'll buy 2 tix immediately! Section 104 or 105 are close follow ups.

I know, the withholding of seats is very unfair to those enthusiastic fans who bought early and only had the choice of upper level seats or the lawn. That's what happened to me for Shoreline. I think the practice is based on the fact that Coldplay's concerts are "virtually sold out for the next year" as they said on the 60 minutes segment. The Marysville concert is the very next day after the show at Shoreline. Marysville is not too far away and most of the population lives in the Bay area. Marysville is not selling very well. My guess is that the producers will cancel unless they sell a certain minimum number of seats to cover the costs because these productions are expensive. They have a lot of equipment to move and set up, plus the cost of cleaning up all the paper mache butterflies after the show! I would volunteer for clean up if I could get in for free, but the volunteer positions with Oxfam are only for promoting Oxfam.

How to sneak cameras inside
Cameras allowed at the Shoreline The Shoreline venue description says that point and shoot cameras are allowed. As long as it doesn't look like a professional camera or a camcorder, it should not be a problem carrying it in. One should not even have to hide it in her bra (women) or underpants (men!) Most concert clips I've seen show a large number of fans with cameras. I wanted to buy a good one and bring it but I reconsidered after reading one woman's comment that she left her camera home and enjoyed the concert more!

Shoreline is showing all the reserved seats as sold out again. The newly opened seats didn't last long! I feel like I'm up in the stratosphere (201, row P), compared to you in 101, row 11! Lucky you to find them a few days ago!

I was wondering the same thing. They added this concert a few weeks after the initial listing of shows. If they don't sell enough tickets at the venue, they will probably cancel the show. I'm surprised that it's not more sold. I suspect that even the seats shown as "sold" may still be on hold for sponsors, etc. However, after saying that, if section 103, the center behind the pit, opens up I'm buying a ticket if I can get a front row seat. If Coldplay does cancel, I think LiveNation would give a refund. Does anyone know for sure?

The Sleeptrain looks to be very remote from the view on Google Earth. It's out in the middle of what looks like a desert. I doubt that there is any public transportation there, unless it would be especially for the show. It would be best to share a ride. Perhaps a few of us can pool a ride there? I'm in SF and Pleasant Hill areas.

A couple of possibilities: the producers know that the Bay area will have a disporportionately high number of Coldplay fans, so they wanted to sell out the less desireable seats first; second possibility is that they wanted to give as many of the the best seats to all the friends of the band and sponsors before making them available to the public. The first day of sale, LiveNation initially showed all of the reserved seats as sold out. Later in the day, they showed only a few seats available in the 200s. In other words, they had to make sure Gwenyth, the kids, family and friends had their seats first!

I'm looking at the front row seats in section 105 that look pretty sweet as well... do I want to drive 122 miles the next day to see Coldplay again? Hmmmmmm... I think it will be a sweet show.

I'm a short guy, so the pit would not work for me either. For Sleeptrain in Marysville, the "Floor" tickets are shown as General Admission, and there is a very large number, about half of the total still available. It is really strange that they waited this long to sell them. My guess is that they wanted to increase the sales of the less desireable seats first. Also, I'm sure that they give the band and sponsors first grab at the front seats. As far as I know, Coldplay's fan club is given no special priviledges, but I'm sure some seats are reserved for some of their favorites, like Oxfam volunteers.

Yeah, I see that there are still a few 100s seats available. I need to start reading this forum since apparently they started releasing them in early April. There are still a few 100s seats available, but over to the sides and back. That explains why I saw a someone selling her 200s seats on Craigslist at face value.

My tix are for Section 203 , Row L , Seat # 1 , and Section 201 , Row P , Seat # 39, both appear to be aisle seats, just off the center section, so I'm hoping they'll be good seats. I thought about going to the show the next day at Sleeptrain, but would like to find one or more to share the ride with. When I checked a couple of weeks ago, there were still decent seats available, but don't know about now. I don't know how so many people got 100 section seats. Every time I checked, they were sold out, and I checked for weeks.
