The story took place in 1860, in poor quarters of Liverpool. The Watsons were have-nots for a century. Robert Watson and his wife Lucy Watson lived with their daughter Eleonore in misery. They haven't enough money to live decently so they ate just once a day whereas they worked a lot.
Robert was a docker in the harbour of Liverpool. Eleonore was a laundress, then her father was fed up to see her and his wife poverty-stricken, so he decided to marry Elonore, to get more money for living.
Eleonore used to work alone in the laundry, so sometimes she met, ''nice" people, and this one was in love with a boy who lived not so far from the quarter and came often to see her.
But Leonore never thought that her father has found someone for her. The man was an old widow, aged 53 years old, the wealthy Simon Richardson.
So, Eleonore's father was delighted to see that this man was also agree to marry Eleonore.
The rub was that Eleonore didn't want to marry Simon even he was full of money.Robert was stubborn and he didn't want to hear anything, and told her that she'll marry this man, no matter what happens.
Eleonore told all to her boyfriend,Tommy and he was upset to know that Robert acted like an arrogant, he was like buying his daughter. Then, Tommy promised her to do his best to stop her father.
The wedding day came, and the situation was the same. Eleonore, for this day, decided to buy the prettiest ring with Simon's money. Then she come back and, in the evening, they were married.
The unbelievable happened. Robert and Simon were dead during the night. After the investigations, the autopsy revealed traces of poison in their stomachs. The prime suspect was Tommy, because he was jealous. Then, after the trial he was hanged and Eleonore never apologized herself because she was the only murderess. Then she cried for the rest of her life and died after being insane.
C'est tout.
