Coldplay/Keane/Muse trends.
I didn't say it was the voice either. Just music and energy. Everything else is just a matter of taste.

Coldplay/Keane/Muse trends.
I'm not saying Coldplay are bad live or that they're all gimmicks. All I said is that we shouldn't judge concerts based on the spectacles they put on. Only because sometimes when I'm talking about bands live with other people they always bring up all the lights/baloons/glowing bracelets issue. Again, I'm not saying Coldplay aren't good live cause I don't know, I haven't seen them. Don't know about the hits. Could be but that's really subjective cause most of Coldplay's hits bore me to death. I only like a few from X&Y and A rush of blood to the head. Also, Chris Martin is sure a better entertainer and showman than Tom Chaplin. But no one can top Tom's voice nowadays, not even Matt Bellamy (really good with falsetto, not so good with chest voice).

Keane are piano rock/brit pop. They don't have guitar. They're piano + drums + bass + voice. They have some elements from rock but they're mostly pop (especially their latest album, Strangeland)

Coldplay/Keane/Muse trends.
Keane fan here. I have a couple of things to say. About the live performances issue, I've seen Keane 4 times. I have never seen Muse but it's something that I reaaaaally wish to do (they're my favourite band after Keane). And I've never seen Coldplay live and don't plan to (I don't like them that much). BUT there's something that we have to notice: great spectacle with flashing lights doesn't equal a good concert. Maybe a good show, but not a good concert. Let's not forget everything's about the music. Keane are EXCELLENT live. Better than on the album. Tom's voice is flawless and they're all so energetic. But then they don't have lasers or huge balloons on stage. I'm not saying Keane are better live than Coldplay or Muse, I'm just saying that we should judge by the music. To me it's Muse > Keane > Coldplay. Second thing, I really like Perfect Symmetry. I think it's a great album. Just because it's different to everything else they've done doesn't mean it's bad. I'm sure it would have been a massive hit if it was the debut album of a new band. I really like Strangeland too (better than PS) but I don't think it is as good or as creative as PS was.

That's cause the name is quite new. Some Keane fans don't even know about the name yet. It all started as a Tumblr joke, until one of us went to a concert and told Tim about the name and he seemed to like it and mentioned it in that interview. People are slowly starting to call themselves Strangers now haha Perez Hilton said "but if they're strangers together, then they're not strangers anymore" and Tim replied "there's a certain romance to that".

Keane fans are called Strangers. Strangers cause of the DVD from 2005 called Strangers, cause we live in Strangeland and because We might as well be strangers. ;) It's also cause Keane have always felt kind of out of place in the musical scene, same with their fans, who Irvine Welsh (director of Atlantic) described as "unhip and uncool weirdos" (in a "good" way). Keane are aware of the name too: http://perezhilton.com/2012-07-05-chatting-with-keane-interview-perez

GET IT. It is awesome. It's definitely a grower. The first time I listened to it I liked it but now I LOVE it. And even those songs that didn't catch me in the first time (Neon River, Watch how you go, In your own time...) have definitely grown on me. I particularly recommend the special edition with the 4 bonus tracks cause Strangeland, Run with me and The boys are pretty awesome. I'd say it's the sound of Under the iron sea, the lyrics of Hopes and Fears and the energy and positiveness of Perfect Symmetry. Very beautiful sonding and pleasant to hear.

Agree with the Black Rain/Sea Fog part. I loved Black Rain live so much... the piano of the end was so breathtaking, specially after those high falsetto notes. But in the album version you can barely hear those falsettos and then the ending with just the piano fades out... I HATED THAT. And Sea Fog, yeah, I didn't mind it being a bit faster but I hated the "sea fog rolling" part too. I like it better live. And, am I the only one who thinks all the "oohs" are a bit... flat? It seems like they added too much reverb and vocal effects. The "oohs" on the bridge of "Watch how you go" sound a bit creepy. Same with the end of "Sea Fog". Anyway, I liked Sovereign Light Café and On The Road a lot, though. Specially those last chorus. And In your own time is pretty good too.

Nope, I'm Spanish and I can assure you that "accettaria" is not a word in our language either  I LOVED THIS VIDEO. I think the only mistake is that it doesn't fit the song so much in terms that you pay much more attention to the story of the video than to the song. But it's definetly one of the best videos (not only by Keane) that I've seen in a long time. And you can already listen to the preview of Strangeland, including the bonus tracks. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dINsA-EumpQ]Keane - Strangeland (iTunes previews) - YouTube[/ame] It sounds amazing. I specially loved the bonus track "The Boys" and "Run with me". They sound a bit un-Keane and weird at first but then... woah. They sound like some kind of weird mix between The Police and Supertramp. Really good!

Look. You can never please anyone. With PS, lots of people complained that it was lame that the album was named after a song in the same album. Now that it's actually a bonus track people are complaining too. And second, there's NO WAY this song is boring. You can say you don't like it. But this is not boring. This song is 100% Keane. It reminds me of H&F, if you think this is boring, then you must think that 80% of Keane songs are boring...
