Audio slave or Rage Against The Machine
Audioslave is simply Rage with all the political motivation and direction sucked out. End result: meaningless riffs Zack De La Rocha was such an integral part of Rage, his lyrics made them so angry and good, put on Bullet in the Head or Take the Power Back and you'll see that his lyrics are incredibly profound. switch to Audioslave - i can't actually make out what Chris whatisface is saying half the time lol, he seems to elongate words so i can't understand their meaning. Even if i could, the meaning won't be as exciting as Zack screaming about how messed up the US is, hence the fact i'm not a huge Audioslave fan. i admire Tom for trying again, and i'm 100% behind his stance with the war and all the publicity he's generated with the guy out of System (nice to see he's still got that political willingness) but alas, the music kinda sucks compared to Rage.

coldplay songs to WALK to
yeah, it's good to know that i'm not alone with the whole "i get excited walking to songs" syndrome. :D - i think it all comes down to how fast you're walking: fast walking songs: politik, clocks and daylight. Slow walking: don't panic + trouble :) i know i'm taking my life into my own hands by naming another band in the coldplay forum, but the best song for walking to at the moment has to be "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes. The beat is just designed for you to strut along like a badass 8)

I Will
here's Jonny Greenwood's take on it: POSTED BY Jonny ON 2nd April, 2003 AT 18:49:25 So it turns out the leaked music is a stolen copy of early, unmixed edits and roughs - so we're kind of pissed off about it, to be honest. I see it like this (this is just me): there's napster-style file sharing of released music, then there's early internet distribution of what we at least consider to be a finished body of work. Then there's this - work we've not finished, being released in this sloppy way, ten weeks before the real version is even available. It doesn't even exist as a record yet..... So yes, we're annoyed - the songs are good on the recordings, which you can hear. But we worked on them after this point until we were happy with them. This is why we're pissed off - we didn't give up on them in February (which is what you're hearing) and it's just a shame that, to your ears, we did. So of course people will still download them and hear them, I can understand the temptation. It's not you lot I'm pissed off about, it's just the situation I guess. It's stolen work, fer fuck's sake. What do you all think ? I know it'll come out for real eventually, and it'll all be fine, but I though you all might as well know what's in my head.... That's all. I thankew.

MAKE TRADE FAIR this June
why does it have to take place on the 1 weekend in the year when i'm in a muddy field listening to good music (ie. Glastonbury)? does the lobbying have to take place on the dates you mentioned or could i still send an email or letter after that weekend?!? :-o

The White Stripes + Conan= AWESOME!!!
ah yeah, the CN tower, that's its proper name....i prefer big spiky thing though ;) i did have the chance to study for a whole year at Toronto uni, but alas i turned it down (silly me! )

The White Stripes + Conan= AWESOME!!!
lol thanks.....always wanted to see toronto, that big spiky tower thing, erm....the lake thing.....the trees...... my cousin lived there for 6 months, completely random fact which probably doesn't interest you, and she loved it, although she said it got so cold, bottles of water would freeze on her way to work in the morning.... i'm babbling so i'm going to stop now :D *runs away*

- The White Stripes + Conan= AWESOME!!!
yes, and it rocks like a big fat elephant trampling all over your back relentlessly, not giving you a second to catch your breath :D well....it's good and you should definitely buy it! - sidenote: does anyone know if there's a website for this conan o'brien show or a weblink where i can watch these performances? Being from England, we don't get the show :(- How about a PROPER poll?
Well, i think the reason so many people sing about love/relationships (i'll say love, not girls - very PC!) is because basically everyone can relate to it. If you hear "but the truth is, i miss you so bad", most people can think of a time they missed someone...blah blah and so its a real easy way of relating 2 people and selling records. That's what i love about bands like Coldplay the Manics, the Beatles, they aren't just limited 2 singing about relationships -sure, they all do and they all do it well - but they can also sing about Taxmen, Politics, Why we're here + why America is so evil! (i'm not saying i agree, i'm just stating that's what they sing about!- so please don't shout american people :? ) Anyway, the point......There is a point (albeit a pretty crappy one) is that is why i love Politik so much :)- tv appearances of coldplay
Thanks for the offer of tapes, but sweety's right, videos/TV are different over here. Without sounding too nerdy i think its a different form of decoding stuff(???) Europe has PAL and US has NTSC (i think) . They still work, but they're usually crappy quality (i mean CRAPPY) fuzzing etc. and sometimes just in black and white  ah well, i'll settle for seeing them live in just over a week :D- The White Stripes
i missed the MTV music awards, but the top of the pops 2000th edition would have flopped like a big floppy thing if the white stripes didn't come on and squash everything else, woo hoo :sniper: death to all sub-standard pop acts Oh, by the way, sweet one (or anyone else for that matter) if u like the white stripes, you should check out "The Yeah Yeah Yeah's" they have a kinda bluesy yet rocky sound which is incredibly cool and they're different enough from the white stripes to make them worth checking out. Plus the singer has a COOL voice The Bellrays are also another cool band, they're like a rock band fronted by Aretha Franklin (boy can she sing!)- tv appearances of coldplay
Does anyone else notice the clear (and unfair) difference between band exposure in the US and the UK? In the US, there seems to be such an emphasis on LIVE music/shows etc where the artist(s) have a decent chunk of TV time to talk and play, whereas here we get crappy mimed stuff on Top of the pops or 1 song (1 song!! from coldplay - daylight and then back to the mimed genius of "Blazin Squad"). Sorry i'm having a rant but i hate the lack of exposure TV-wise. As i don't have sky, that means i hardly ever get to see anything   The only chink of sunlight is Jools Holland's later program. How good is that show? Good bands!!! playing live!!! but alas, i dunno when the new series starts, so for the mo it's crappy CD:UK - Who's your favorite band member of all time in any band?
Ahh....it's impossible to pick 1 but i will anyways Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys - he was an absolute genius in my opinion he's kinda my fave in terms of music, in terms of live performances/showmen - Matt Bellamy of Muse, oh my god how he does not die of exhaustion or from getting brain damage from the amount of times he smashes his head on his guitar/stage/audience members i'll never know.- How about a PROPER poll?
I go for politik, mostly because i think more bands should sing about stuff other than girls, plus i absolutely adore the moment about 12 seconds in when they all stop and it's just the creepy piano and this echoo-y voice singing "look at earth from outer space" - album beginnings don't get much more exciting! But then God put ASUYF is probably the most uplifting song i've heard ever! when the chorus comes in...WOAH it blows me away every time :!: by the way, i'm not against love songs, the scientist being played constantly by moi but does anyone else feel its like a breath of fresh air when a song isn't about a girl?)- Official Red Hot Chili Peppers thread
Hmm, no-one ever mentioned that the chili peppers were crap live. I'm unsure whether 2 buy tickets or not for when they play in march................hmm. Usually when i deliberate over buying tickets, they sell out so my minds made up for me (except coldplay...woo! oct 8th - 11 days!) I think the chilis have had 6-7 albums (i lose count) but the 3 best (in my opinion) are: By the way Californication Blood Sugar Sex Magik in that order lol The others aren't bad, but they're all a bit samey, slap bass funk stuff where u don't have a clue what he's singing. Hicksy, rumours are that michael eavis (the bald bloke with the beard who runs glastonbury) is desperate for Radiohead 2 headline glasto 2003, fingers crossed!- martin grech
   You don't have it? ok enough shocks. I'd seriously reccommend buying it. Basically, the singles are just a teeny bit of what the Vines r like, it shows their raucous, rocky side, which is amazing. But then on the album, the tracks are laid out in such a cool fashion that i defy to listen 2 it all and not think..wow They were compared to the Beatles, which i think is a bit daft, but the interviewer was right in one aspect. Just like the beatles could sing basically any song, rock? Helter Skelter, comedy? Yellow submarine, Ob la di, ballads? Hey Jude, indian? why not! so the Vines do like this wierd change thingy, screaming for his life one minute then charming the pants off another (homesick), then going all stony-psychadellic (1969) Its a cliche, but, it is a rollercoaster of an album, 40 odd mins flies buy. If u like the singles, then the rest'll rock ya P.S i don't work for NME (hehe)- tv remote controls
Well it's called the "channel changer" by me! I think it's quite logical (what does it do? change channels!!!) but anyone i ever mention it to just laughs at me  I also have a friend who calls it the "doofer" - i mean wtf? doofer?&^?$"? (at least my name had logic)- martin grech
Nowhere had it? Booooo! You should persevere though, definitely worth it, quality album, although don't expect any mad 2 minute garage punk songs halfway through, they're all pretty sombre. Although did anyone else kinda get scared when they bought the vines album when "homesick" came on? i thought i'd knocked my CD player onto the radio setting! Before i bought the album i thought they only did mental rock, how (delightfully) wrong i was.....- martin grech
Wow, that album has been played constantly by me recently, fantastic! When i saw the Lexus ad, i was instantly hooked, how freaky and amazing is the voice on that song? i get goose bumps every time i hear it, and the piano, woah...lol Anyone also notice it's prime break-up music 2, all i need now is a girlfriend to break up with....- The White Stripes
Hey, no problem! I just wanted to share some of my feelings (some would also say obsessive detail) and help u out, plus i was really bored the other night and no-one was online :) wow my first post and i'm accepted and welcomed with open arms into the coldplay board group-thingy. I feel so loved......sniff (p.s. the white stripes rock, anyone who says otherwise is a fool!)- The White Stripes
Hey, i'll try not to make my reply too long but i love the white stripes so much i'll probably natter on. I think the white stripes r one of the most important bands out there at the minute, just because what they're doing is completely and utterly different to the "popular" music. I mean, what could be more unusual than 2 wierdly dressed (brother/sister/wife/people????) playing this mental, freakout blues and making it sound so damn good? To recycle what's traditonally seen as an "old" form of music that grandads used to bop 2 and make it seem completely new, exciting and surprising is incredible and just blows away all the sub-standard crap that clogs up the radio. Probably the best word to use to describe them is intense. The relationship between Jack and Meg is freakily intense, look how they seem to know what the other's thinking (wierd huh?) and the way jack screams like his life depends on it and jumps/climbs/falls all over the stage whilst still being cool. They are essentially a phenomenam, i mean they turn up completely against the grain of nu-metal/garage rock bands which r the latest trend as if they come from another planet. They take what is probably one of the most basic forms of music - the blues - and morph it into something completely different. Take for instance "stop breaking down", just a normal 12 bar blues song, yet they strip it down 2 just raw guitar and drums and push it through a mangler, creating this messed up/intense/twisted sound which is unique and - more importantly - relevant. If someone told me about april time last year that one of my favourite bands would consist of 2 people dressed in red and white, playing the blues on just drums and guitar i'd laugh at them. I didn't mind the blues before, but it was hardly cutting edge, new and exciting. The stripes basically recycled the blues, took it out of the dustbin, gave it a lick of paint and a kick up the arse and wahay! what do you have? This unique sounding/fantastic live/more intense than slipknot band which are absolutely nothing like anything else around at the moment. 1 last thing before i shut up. I was doin some schoolwork whilst listening to the radio, the normal sub-standard crap and i wasn't really listening. Then on comes "fell in love with a girl" and instantly it grabs you. The feedback and the pounding drums woah! and then this girly/screamy voice screaming at you about how he's "fell in love once and lost completely" i had 2 stop workin and just listen. i know i used this word about 6 times before but the intensity (lol) present in them grabs you and demands your undivided attention. Thank lord for the White stripes :!: anyways, my download's finished so i'm off and i've written far 2 much. I hope that helps you sweet one, if it doesn't...well then i'll cry :( btw this is my first post and it's about a completely different band 2 the actual one the site is for, how ironic! - The White Stripes + Conan= AWESOME!!!
