  1. yeah i agree, i think songs in their most basic form should sound good to be good in a band overall, but im sure exceptions can be made, it seems though that singing ruins most bands or songs, it seems like you could have a good guitar riff/progression but if the vocals dont fit right then it will either be good or bad.
  2. what i mean is, what makes a song good to you guys especially you other song writers, as far as chord arrangements and vocal melody, your thoughts and comments?
  3. yeah falsetto is fun, i use them alot to change vocals up in stuff to give it more of a variety.

i want to keep gettin better as a concept artist and 3d artist as well as keep writing good compassionate songs and hopefully meet the right people we will go all the way with, i honestly wont stop or give up, i want to be bigger than the beatles and share my music with the world, also i wish things would work out with my ex but i keep that stuff to myself cause its stupid to wish for suc things.
  5. ok so maybe im not nuts thinking everyone is lying to me lol, i still cant help but hate it though, oh well.

    i got 401...lol
  7. hey i dont know if anyone of you guys and girls have any experience with this but i find myself hating my own voice when i hear it on a tape recorder or on the computer mic, but when i ask other people, most say i sing good and blah blah, so i guess im not sure, is it just tape recorders or is everyone being fake lol, i have been singing a long time and have had many lessons, i just hate how i hate hearing myself.
  8. look at the stars by gary spivack, was probably one of the best band books i have ever read and it changed my life, this guy has done an amazing job documenting the life of coldplay and i now love them more than i thought i could, just wanted to share that with you all, its an amazing book you should all read.
  9. yeah good info skinned, ill have to try that one out, the line 6 seems really cool too, hopefully soon ill have more money to expand my tonal range with =)
  10. hey guys, i was just curious as to whom on here has much experience with delay pedals and looping, i currently dont have a lead guitarist and i mainly play rythm on acoustic, im mainly inspired by the sounds of radiohead, coldplay, U2, jeff buckley and some others but i wonder if any of who had any reccomendations as to what is good as far as sound and reliabilty goes, i need a good delay, i have a dd3 which is awesome but i also need to more analog tones something with more aptomasphere as well as looping, i know jonny buckland uses stuff similar to that for looping but i just wanted to know ur guys experiences with diff. stuff. i was looking at the line 6 delay, the only problem i have with that its loop is short, around 15sec. i beleive, but mainly i just want to loop leads. im sure u guys know plent more than i do and id greatly appreciate any thoughts or opinions anyone would have, thanks guys!
  11. totally agree with you, thats why i think whats workin for me is to play the chords or whatever and zone out to it and just start singing. usually good things happen then.
  12. yeah i love doin it, its just frustrating when u feel like ur failing but i know its times like that when u get better, i wonder what chris martin does for writing songs or thom yorke? im sure its diff. everytime =) thank God for inspirations
  13. haha see, you guys are funny, i love it, makes me happy!
  14. how cool everyone is on these boards, im from the US and im new to this board and it seems most are from the UK here and u guys are all so nice and helpful, ive always wanted to visit the UK, it seems to beautiful and all my fav. musicians and bands are from their, almost makes me wish i grew up their, hopefully i can get the cash and a hop a flight over their some day or better yet play shows over their but that could take awhile :/ well yeah thats all, lol its a pointless post but hey, i got to kill time b4 work.
  15. man all great advice, actually in the past week since u guys replied its weird, i have these 3 songs, just chords but i was trying to focus on one, and sometimes it will just hit me but then ill lose it in seconds, its so frustrating, but i keep tryin, i just try and play the chords again and again, and just try to feel it and get into that zone, its tough tho cause im not great and singing and playing at the same time since i havent been playing guitar long but ive been singing my whole life, so i guess ill have to keep at it and hopefully it will fall into place with time and patience.
  16. hahahaha that was an awesome quote, i remember that now. awesome for posting that. i want a shirt that says that now lol
  17. i checked one out they sound pretty cool, kinda pricey but thats exactly why i was interested in them because ive been wanting something non studio to get more aptomasphere. well i suppose loop stations can be used like that too, doesnt jonny have an old loop delay mount?
  18. ohhhhh so thats what those are, ive heard of them but never have i played with people that have used them, thats very interesting, maybe ill give them a try one of these days, gettin kinda board with the same guitar routines...and jonny sure makes cool sounds with it so im def. inspired to give it a whirl or at least reccomend it to my lead guitarist to mess with over the other stuff =) thanks for the answer, i was thinkin it would be one of those things no one would have the answer to but ya saved me haha thanks
  19. i also couldnt agree more with the last statement, i find that happens to me sometimes too but usually for me to find that magical vocal rythm usually it comes when im in the car or something and it sucks haha, but i think its goin better now that im just tryin to feel it out instead of trying to be all technical now, so the possibilities are endless and im trying to mix it up more with vcal rythms independant from the guitar rythm ill play, but yeah im ramblin on, lol sorry thanks guys
  20. I dont know how may of you have seen coldplay live or have seen their live DVD but i wonder if any of you knew what Jonny is holding over the pickup of his guitars when he is using slides to do those echo like ambient noises like before rush of blood to the head, see you soon etc. its only when he uses the slides and it almost looks like it could be hair clippers? lol im not sure but im assuming its causing vibrations through the pickup to achieve those sounds, anyone have any thoughts? thanks guys!
  21. hey thanks guys, i agree skinned, in my old band i was the lead singer and writer, i didnt play guitar and in that band when i tried to come up with meoldies with vocals they would suck but when i was just feelin the music at practice id make it up right then and their and the results were pleasing most the time to the band and myself, and thats a good thom quote, i forgot he said that cause he is my biggest inspiration for music. ill just let it happen! =) u couldnt be more right, thats how the best stuff is done now that i think back to my last band, lol.
  22. I posted this in the main section but i dont think it was the right place now that im looking around but Hey i just have been frustrated lately, im confident with guitar and singing, im a rythm player and sing as well but i feel my songs are less than great because of the way im singing words, the vocal rythm, i wonder for you guys out their how you go about coming up with vocal rythms or know any tips. I always wonder how people like Chris Martin and Thom Yorke do it but i know their is no set formula, any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks alot
