Billy Joel
Billy Joel's "She's Always A Woman" is chilling! Immediately after hearing it, I was struck by Billy Joel’s “She’s Always A Woman.” The song is so haunting; it gives me goose bumps up and down my arm. Listening to it, I envision a seemingly mean-spirited, selfish and deceitful woman who only seems that way because it’s the only way she knows to survive. This “woman” that Billy is singing about is a cutthroat person on the surface, but there’s so much more that lies beneath the shrewdness. What lies beneath is a mystery; it could be her family life or strictly genes. Without a doubt, the “woman” is an attractive or probably even gorgeous woman who’s usually upfront with her harshness, yet this doesn’t deter men from lusting for her and it doesn’t deter women from wanting to be her friend. We all have known this “woman” in our life, she’s an irresistible bitch. Her cruelty makes her interesting, and she’s a quandary to everyone because they wonder why they find themselves trying to befriend this “woman.” I’ve always wondered about mean, bossy people and why some are in ways likable and some are not. They always say nice guys finish last, but ultimately I think it’s more about having a balance: being an friendly person, yet not being a pushover, and being aware and not naïve. Okay, there’s my psychology/sociology analysis.

Why I think Kelis is one of the illest
... Well I'm so glad you love her. She actually has a a lot of fans. Go here if you want to keep up-to-date on her at: http://www.ultimatekelis.com/forum/index.php She actually visits that one and she knows about it.

... I posted her song with Bjork, and two other hot songs in the Multimedia section. So if you wanna hear those, they're there.

Why I think Kelis is one of the illest
... oh, lol Well she's a singer who's signed with Pharrell Williams, you know him right? She released three albums, but only two were released in the U.S. She's pretty popular overseas. Anyway, so you've never heard the song "Milkshake"? You know the hook goes: "My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard/and they're like it's better than yours/I could teach you, but I have to charge." But her music has a real spacy, futuristic sound. She worked with Bjork on a song and collaborated with Korn and No Doubt on her 2001 album. She's a real different kind of chick.

... Well I guess no one likes Kelis? I didn't expect a lot of responses, but do you just disregard her because she's the "Milkshake" girl or you just don't like her like that? She's way more than "Milkshake" She makes what I call outerspace music. It's so different.

Why I think Kelis is one of the illest
KELIS I've been a Kelis fan since 1999 when "Got Ya Money" came out. I remember I always cracked up because of the fact that Tangi Miller from the show "Felicity" was dancing along side Kelis in the "Got Ya Money." It was so random. Then I was so excited when Kelis worked with my man Hype Williams for her "Caught Out There" video. The Neptunes and Clipse were even in the video. I was so sure that she would blow up huge in the U.S. that is. Then BET premiered the "Get Along With You" video on their old show, "Out the Box" (anyone remember that? ), and the video made me sad. It was hot of course, but it was so melancholy and that's when I knew Kelis was something special. I'll start off with her voice. Her vocals have been described as robotic yet soulful in an edgy way. I agree, her vocals aren't robotic in a negative way but in a unique way. Her vocals are just so cool and slick. I swear when her voice harmonizes, it's the most amazing sound. I even wrote a music review for Kelis' TASTY album during my senior year of high school. It was published and everything. I described Kelis' voice as an "ice cream-cool alto." That's what her voice sounds like to me; cool and creamy like good ice cream. Last but not least, Kelis is gorgeous. She has her own quirky style which I love. She's not a copycat. If anything, people copy her. I admit her last album has a Vanity 6 vibe, but on her first two albums she had no particular style that one could pinpoint. She was simply herself. I'm glad she's working on a new album. I heard her new song "Bossy" and that joint is off-the-meter. Bangladesh (worked with Ciara) produced it and I'm pretty sure Sean Garrett (Ciara's "Goodies" and Usher's "Yeah") wrote it because it has his trademark "woop, woop" at the beginning. He did that on Mashonda's "Blackout" as well as Chris Brown's "Run It." I like the fact that Kelis makes sure people know it's her. No one else could sing her new song "Bossy" because it's specifically about her. And lastly, I'm definitely one of those who thinks that Kelis doesn't need the Neptunes. I mean, the Neptunes can hardly take care of themselves so it's no big deal. She worked with mostly other producers on TASTY and the result was amazing. She'll be aight. So instead of ROASTING someone, this is my tribute to Kelis.

ray j covered coldplay´s clocks
Yes indeed. He had zero control over his voice and the dancing he was doing just had me laughing. His sister Brandy did "Clocks" justice, but this really is plain bad. I even like Ray J but this is wack. :/

Does anyone have screen caps to this video? This is the first Coldplay video I had seen. It caught my attention. It's a haunting video, which matches the song perfectly. Bittersweet I guess you could say. So if anyone can hook me up with some captures, I'm forever grateful.

Coldplay borrows from A-ha
I noticed that Chris Martin of Coldplay has some elements of A-ha's lead singer Morten in his voice. But there's one big difference: Chris Martin has less projection of his voice. Chris' voice sounds okay in the studio, but when he performs live, his voice significantly falters, while Morten sounds pitch-perfect when he performs live. Didn't Coldplay sing A-Ha's "Hunting High and Low" in concert?

Candice Nelson: A talented R&B singer/songwriter, look o
... Ok, I'm a big supporter of Candice Nelson. She's an R&B singer, but trust me even though R&B has had a bad rap for a while, Candice has a lot of influences. She writes all of her songs, but she's not a corny writer. Anyway, I want y'all to hear this girl sing. LL Cool J "Every Sip" (prod. by Timbaland) she sings on it. http://s42.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=21BO9WNLZRHRZ33I35H7N1YR7N Timbaland & Magoo feat. Candice Nelson. Her voice is mesmerizing on this one. Tight beat as well. http://s42.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0EL23LT9GMUT731O6I26IYJLJQ

Shelby Norman
She's a country artist who is signed to Timbaland's struggling Beat Club label. I heard she wasn't with him anymore, but she is still listed as one of his artists on the Interscope site. Anyway, she's really dope. She has a cool voice like "cool" as in ice cream. Here's two of her songs that she did with Timbaland. They're not typical Timbaland. IDK, it's hard to explain, she just sounds so good. Plus, she looks hot. "You Hated Me" http://s41.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2V2174XJKBHBE02XMMOKK5ZXSE "I Will" http://s50.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2F36MMFA7PC562VNWIEUV33HP2 That's her in the pic below.

So when does the SOS video premiere in the US?
I decided I'd start a new topic since the other one is filled up. I really want to see this video, and Mark Romanek, that is genius. You know it's going to be a real artistic video. I have a feeling Coldplay is gonna blow up to gigantic proportions, even bigger than before. I mean, come on, one single do you know makes a debut at No. 8. That's pretty damn amazing.
