If my condition took a huge turn for the worse and was told I had a few years to live, I would accept it, it wouldn't be easy but I would go down fighting and making the most of every last minute! :) That's not very nice what your mum said :( But I guess everyone deals with situations differently! :)

Neurofibromatosis... there's two types, I have type 1, the less severe one... but it still affects 1 in 2500! However it comes in all shapes and sizes, literally! Some people have obvious disfigurements, others may not even realise they have it! :)

Yes... they hope to have a cure within 5-10 years! It's a bit of a fucker cos the nature of it means small fleshy lumps grow under/on the skin as I get older! And all the other possible scary complications that I could experience! Doesn't matter though. I have my annual check-up/MRI and so far after 22 years everything is ticketyboo... and touchwood it shall stay that way. As Coldplay said 'life is for living' and that's what I do. I'm grateful that I wake up everyday healthy! :)

So true! I have had a genetic condition since birth, and even though I'm 100% healthy, I have been told that I am more likely to do of it (from complications in years to come) than with it! But I don't go around asking for sympathy, infact I hate sympathy. If anything people should feel sympathy for the millions of people dying in Africa every year! :rolleyes: Celebrities should go jump in a ditch! :)

Maybe they should do a 'Celebrity Saw' The films have been massive, so I'm sure a TV show would be! ;)
