  1. Coldplay need a guitar driven record to become extremely popular with it's hardcore fans again. Something like an Alt rock record like AM from the arctic monkeys or a punk rock record which had really basic songs but kinda heavy. Coldplay just using normal instruments would be amazing!
  2. To be honest, this is how their setlist might turn out to be 1. Always In My Head 2. Charlie Brown 3. Ink 4. In My Place 5. Cemetries Of London 6. Magic 7.Anothers arm's 8. Don't panic 9. Clocks 10. Lost 11.Viva La Vida 12. Paradise 13. Yellow 14. Til Kingdom Come 15. Shiver Encore 1: 16. The Scientist 17. Oceans 18. White Shadows Encore 2: 19. Midnight 20. Fix You 21. A Sky Full Of Stars 22. O Part Two Reprise
  3. I would just like to know the exact techniques of songwriting chris explained in the interview because i didn't quite understand, especially the 11pm bit :(
  4. I personally was thrilled at how good the MX tour was, how do you think the next tour will pan out? What would you like to see?
  5. Yeah i have to agree with you there. They are all very young and bright bands. Vampire weekend done exactly what Coldplay has done with their first 3 because i have recalled Ezra saying that the 3 albums they have produced is trilogy like. Chris had said exactly the same thing. But MVOTC was way better than X&Y in my opinion. Many people believe the Arctic Monkeys have taken the face of alt rock away from Coldplay in the UK as well.
  6. To Be Honest , i feel that the Parachutes era group has expanded. Simply due to one reason. Rock being overshadowed by EDM. This in my opinion has made older Coldplay fans more thirsty for a rock record. Maybe even newer fans as well because i think that so many people dislike the music scene. Rock albums do amazing these days. As i said at the start of this thread, Arctic Monkeys and Vampire Weekend are some examples. So are Haim, Two Door Cinema Club and The 1975. All these artists were very successful and i feel that it's due to society being drowned out in EDM. Unfortunately Coldplay have taken this part which is making me refer to Coldplay as a pop band now instead of an alt rock band.
  7. I think they just feel like they have to evolve with the music trends to be honest, also the fact Brian Eno isn't producing for them is something to think about.
  8. Hang on, by saying that, Paradise isn't a mega hit? It was a top 5 hit in 16 countries and sold 410,000 copies, and has 70 million spotify listens, of course it's huge
  9. I hope your right! Yeah i have heard them a few times, for me AIMH stands out as being the best. What i'm trying to say is that will's drumming for example has been heavily altered to sound pop like, it sounds awful. Atlas would be a great example , listening to that was like an edm track, it built up to these really dupstep like drums which sounded terrible. But yes Coldplay do a great job of altering their sound to sound more modern while keeping their origins with them but i do think the other band members look very pathetic when sometimes all you can notice is a backing track.
  10. This proves a problem for me. I think they have done too much stripping back in recent years. Coldplay are basically a pop band now. They have been since that Rihanna collaboration. I expected Ghost Stories would be a huge album, not only commercially but musically, with epic songwriting and melodic rhythms. Sort of like how Green Day came back with American Idiot in 2004, Coldplay need a huge lift. They only way Ghost Stories could be better than AROBTTH is to add some proper insstruments instead of synthesizing everything. Seriously Jonny must've done nothing on the entire album i swear.
  11. It's probably the fact that we all know this is definitely not Coldplay's best work, but that's just a matter of opinion i guess
  12. Exactly, it seems as if they knew Magic would do this well in the US and especially Australia, which can make a second single look even better if it's good enough. But the reason why i liked Coldplay originally was that they were a very very good alt rock band around 5-10 years ago, it seems as if they just want all the fame. Ghost Stories is a risk being that fans might think it's different but Coldplay know it will do well in the charts because it's more electric. This also makes me feel that they didn't want to risk doing something completely wild like a guitar driven album which i personally would love. Ghost Stories will no doubt be successful but will it stay in the charts as long as their previous albums did? Only good reviews make that happen.
  13. I know exactly what you mean. However if you compare the success of their past two albums and the promotional strategies along with it, Ghost Stories has been highly outclassed. Viva La Vida Or Death And All Of His Friends had itunes commercials, live concerts all throughout Europe, the release of a very catchy song (violet Hill), magazine interviews. The first released song of Ghost stories which was Midnight, was met with very critical comments and in my opinion i thought it wasn't a very Coldplay like record. MX was eye catching. I think Coldplay has to much to compete with these days. Their direction into an ambient influenced album comes into questioning to, would coldplay be more successful if they made a alt rock/garage rock album?
  14. Over the past 2 years, There has been a number of very significant bands to climb up the charts. For example Arctic Monkeys had monumental success with "AM" last year and Vampire Weekend had the album of their careers. Seeing "Magic" get released with much uncertainty has brought the question , are they slipping from their highest of heights?
