  1. It's hard to define because to my dad the Foo Fighters are heavy metal and to me they're just rock, and likewise to my dad Crowded House are Pop and to me they're just wank ;)
  2. Hi everyone, I've lurked around here for a while but never really had much to say. Firstly I think the new album is amazing and I love every track apart from Low (which I think is a slightly less intelligent cousin to The One I Love, but it is very listenable) I think this is such a step forward musically (maybe a little step back lyrically) and the songs are so well crafted in parts it makes me tingle. My only concern is (and sorry if this has been mentioned a million times) is that apart from The Hardest Part and Swallowed in the Sea I'm finding it hard to pick up on the 'Coldplay' sound which wasted so many of my dark, winter evenings away pulsing around my candlelit room in Parachutes. I feel X&Y is a better album overall with a stronger set of songs but when I lie back and close my eyes I’m still right there on my sofa listening to a great album; when I listen to Parachutes I seem to get taken away in the spin of that cheap plastic globe right up until the very last note. At the end of A Rush Of Blood to the Head when the soft embers of Amsterdam filter through my cheap speakers I feel like I've been on a journey, not just listening to great songs. Sorry if I'm talking nonsense but I think my conclusion is that I love X&Y but I miss Coldplay a little (how good it was to find my old friends in such good voice at Glastonbury some nights ago however) I feel a bit cheap for saying this as after all I can relive those ‘nostalgia’ moments any time I choose and it's amazing to hear such vibrant colours on the new disc… but deep down I guess I was just the tiniest bit disappointed that the brush strokes were so wide… Ahhhhhhhh who cares hey.....speak to you all soon.
