I've been a member for quite a while now (two years), but this is my first post. Hello to everyone. I'm new at this posting thing, so if anyone has any useful hints then feel free. For example, I'm being asked about some "polls" for this thread, and it is currently at 4. What does it mean?

Hey! Welcome to the site. My advice for new posters is just dive in and make whatever mistakes you make. I did. People on here are pretty forgiving. You can attach a poll to any thread you start. Once you decide to make a poll, you can make any number of options for people to choose from as you like. I think 4 is just the default number. Good luck!:)
