And there can be few people with greater claim to that charmed state than Elizabeth Elie. She was brought into the world shortly after 7am on the seventh day of the seventh month of 2007. And if that's not enough to bring her the best in life, she is also the seventh child in the family. Scroll down for more... Elizabeth the seventh: Baby born on 07/07/07 Parents Serge and Herbethe Elie were astonished when they realised the uncanny coincidences surrounding Elizabeth's birth, which took place in - where else - delivery room seven at Birmingham's Good Hope Hospital. Mr Elie, 37, who works for Land Rover, said: "I hope she's a good luck charm when she grows up and wins us lots of money on the lottery, bingo or the horses. "There are sevens everywhere. This must be a good omen; it's a gift from God. "I can't wait to tell her that she was born on such a memorable occasion. It is absolutely amazing. I'm a delighted and very happy man." The couple, who came to Britain from the Democratic Republic of Congo seven years ago, were aware that Elizabeth was due on July 7 but didn't think much of it as their previous six children had arrived a few days either side of their expected date. Elizabeth - who weighed 8lb 1oz at birth - was taken back to the family home in Erdington, Birmingham, with both mother and child in good health. Scroll down for more... "Serge and I already feel like the luckiest parents in the world, but to have our seventh child born on this day is brilliant. "I hope Elizabeth will be lucky in life and have lots of good fortune." Elizabeth's six siblings are Daniel, 14, Sagesse, 11, nine-year-old twins Doracs and Enis, Jockebed, six, and Jemima, two. Emma Whapples, the midwife in charge of Good Hope's delivery suite, said: "I think number seven will be Elizabeth's lucky number for life. "The only special dates of birth we usually have here are Christmas and New Year - so this is great for us. It's an amazing coincidence and a little bit spooky." The notion of the "lucky number seven" can be traced in folklore and religion. For Christians and Jews, God created the world in seven days. Hindus recognise the seven chakras of the body, Buddha walked seven steps at his birth and Muslim haj pilgrims circle the sacred Kaaba in Mecca seven times. When the seven seas and the seven wonders of the world are taken into account, it's little surprise that many gamblers also believe in the "lucky number seven". Three sevens is usually a jackpot on a slot machine, and a seven can also come in handy on a craps table.
