Major rant

By high school, people won't be as pathetically judgemental.

^at least not publically jugemental. theyre not so vocal about it.

honestly, though, i loved MS while i was in it and didnt want to go to US, but in retrospect, MS SUCKED. US rocked, and i think most people have that experience as well.

there used to be this great channel called VH1 MegaHits (VH1 and MTV are owned by the same people, i'm pretty sure)...it was like channel 721 or something and it played only music videos, and ONLY rock ones. that channel got me into coldplay, the strokes, death cab for cutie...all the bands i can't live without now. if it wasnt for that channel, i would never have been this obsessed with coldplay.

and yet, they took it off the air because it wasnt what people wanted to see. they rather see bitchy girls having catfights and ridiculous contests that have nothing to do with music and everything to do with the worst of american culture.

They got rid of those?! :bigcry: I remember only getting those channels with a cable box, then we got rid of it, then we got it BACK and i couldn't find it anymore.

Man, MTV sucks. :dozey:

And the boys in your grade seem just as catty as girls, Anna. Just ignore them. They're probably doing it to seem cool or to make up for insecurities and blah blah blah more Dr. Phil stuff. :P Just as long as you like no ones else's opinions matter.

*edit* High school isn't that great! :freak: Just kidding, High school is like a step up from middle school, because the people aren't as open and upfront with the cattiness. It's all done secretly. But shows like Gossip girl, etc, magnify all of the petty drama.

Meh. I'm not really liking HS. :(

Hopefully things will get better.

I guess it depends on the high school and your status.

That's the cold, hard truth, my friends. :freak:

But Im a mature and bigger person so i just ignore a good 90% of my peers. :smug:

Yeah, as far as behavior goes (don't think that jr. and sr. high are split up the same in the US so I'll go by grades), 7th grade is the absolute worst- everyone's gone mental on hormones and things. 8th grade isn't much better, but all the sudden in 9th grade they start to calm down and grow up a lot- and it keeps getting better from there on.

It really is just a bubble world that vanishes completely the moment you get out. And then you wonder why such dumb things ever could have mattered so much, because they mean nothing in the real world.

aww, i'm sorry annie :(. even though i'm not really talking from experience whatsoever, there's a lot more to life than just high school (and just college). everyone has a different favorite time, i guess, and for a lot of people that's college, so there's that to look forward to. i just personally cant imagine much topping my high school years. socially, anyway.

my 7th grade year was pretty awesome.

In VA high school is four years; 9-12. In ninth grade everyone tries to act all bad and matuuure. :dozey:

But I guess it depends on when you start high school. If high school for you starts after 9th grade it shouldn't be as bad because the people should be a little more mature, and calm, like Space Cadet said.

aw thanks Chelsea (for saying I'm the coolest middle schooler you've ever talked to) :P I'm probably one of the youngest people here actually ...

Erin you're so right about the 7th and 8th grade, everybody's just totally loony and delirious and acting stupid. I don't know if I'm much better, haha.

Some of these things will matter in the real world though, won't they? I mean it's all part of growing up. When you're older there are still people that talk behind your back or gossip about you or whatever. It's just in a different environment. And these individual things don't matter so much .. I'm just discussing them you know.

yeah, at my school upper school was 9-12 grade as well. and in middle school, 7th grade was the absolute worst. 8th was better, like mo said, but still sucky. 9th was looking up, 10th was AMAZING, 11th was brilliant, and 12th was...not so brilliant, at least for the most part. for us all the amazing part was that it was almost exactly the same group of people (my school was k-12, so no changing schools), yet the maturity level skyrocketed to new levels over one summer. it was great.

Well now I can't wait till high school and everybody being normal!!! at least I have a lot to look forward to.

11th grade isn't so great. Well, im not one for wild parties and drunk driving :freak: so some of my classmates might disagree.

But overall the high school experience is 10 times better. I wouldn't go back to middle school if you paid me.

No. They really seriously don't. At all.

All the cliques get broken up, all the status is worthless. In fact people who were super popular for being popular and nothing else are kind of looked down on. Age doesn't matter like it did. If you're a college student and you don't act like you're still in high school, it doesn't matter if you're 19 or 25 or in your 30s, you get treated the same. Gossip happens, but it doesn't mean the same things, and doesn't impact you the way it did- people are much wiser about it, and don't believe it like they did.

Sure there's all that status crap in highschool, but like I've said before, everyone all of a sudden realizes when they get out that the really cool people were the people who found a way to avoid status altogether and just do their own thing and find unique ways to be their own person. Those are the ones who come out of it all with personalities, and everyone else just looks like losers in hindsight.

Seriously, I had to switch schools in 7th grade I was picked on so much. I have met several of the girls who acted the worst towards me either as co-workers or as other students in courses I was taking. They have all treated me like an equal and a friend, and have turned out to be very sweet now that they've grown up. All the old things just don't matter anymore.

yeah, most of the people that were "popular" in middle school either left my school and became hated in their public high schools because they were stuck in the mindset of being the MS queen-bees or were mocked in US because of their partying and superficial behavior. the more artsy, off-beat kids became popular in like 9th grade then, but because i went to such a tiny school, then the whole social-pyramid thing exploded and everyone became pretty much equal and friends with each other. i know your schools not as small as mine, anna, but its still pretty damn tiny in the realm of american high schools, and i think a similar thing will happen to you.

those boys might do a 360 and become really nice in high school. that's what happened to me. i became best friends with some of the guys that were the biggest assholes, and i love them. but if that doesnt happen, then you can go on ignoring them like you are, because they have no business even touching the soles of your feet.

^haha... thanks so much you guys for all your wisdom... I'm starting to understand all this stuff and become reassured ..

Today somebody said I look like an anorexic french orphan :freak:

Wow, they are delusional.

Sure, gossip and drama is always going to be in MS and HS. But things are handled differently in HS.

High school is different in that you know from your middle school experience who you are friends with and who you don't want to associate yourself with. You know who your real friends are. If there is drama, you will already know how to assess the situation by avoiding the shit.

It's a big jump. Things change, people change. You learn to avoid it all, because you know the things that you truly care for.

You are still in middle school, things are still mixed up and people don't know what they want yet. By the time you are in 9th grade you'll see.

I hope I made sense. :P

This is all from my own experience, so I'm sure you'll be okay.

Hehe I'm fine .. I'm not upset or offended you know, just commenting on the general stupidity of people. But thank you Annie :nice:

Oh the whole 'drama' schpeel was about the conversation from yesterday.

Was it a kid or an old lady who said that to you?? :P

  • Author

Ohh I see, haha.

lmao Annie

Meh I've had Asian racist jokes said to my face. I've heard worse. :uhoh:

blah, some people are so stupid sometimes. I'm sure you look super-stunning anna. I really want to see how it worked out :P

Hehe thanks...I'm actually really really happy with it, I think it brings out my features. I used to look, you know, not bad but just like everyone else. Now I stand out, a lot ... in a good way.

Argghh can't wait to get my hands on an effing camera!!

I guess the only positive thing about all the dramafest of jr. high and to an extent sr. high is that at least you know that people notice things and it generates discussion.

In university it seems like you are just a little spec in a big blob.
