A woman is taking legal action against world famous lingerie label Victoria's Secret after sustaining an eye injury while trying on a thong.

The incident occurred, says the Los Angeles woman, as she was putting on a decorative low-rise "v-string", Victoria's Secret's own version of the g-string, from the "Sexy Little Thing" line.

According to a lawsuit filed last week in Los Angeles Superior Court, Macrida Patterson, 52, alleges that a piece of metallic embellishment that should have been stitched firmly onto the garment flew off and hit her in the eye.

Her lawyer Jason Buccat told an investigative website a "design problem" caused the decorative piece to come loose and strike Patterson in the eye, causing damage to her cornea.

He added the eye injury, which caused Patterson to miss a few days of work as a traffic officer with the LA Department of Transportation, will be "affecting her the rest of her life".

Prior to the lawsuit's filing, Victoria's Secret, famous for its glamorous fashion shows starring the likes of supermodels Giselle, Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks, requested to inspect the offending article, but Patterson's counsel refused.
