Man Powers iPod With Vegetables!

Featured Replies

A man has used energy drinks and vegetables to power his iPod without causing damage to the environment.

Owen Louis, 21, dug two holes into an onion, poured in the drink and then placed his USB cable in the food for an hour, reports Metro.

"I was watching TV with my laptop on and my iPod playing and thought, 'How much electricity must I be using?'" said Louis.

"A friend showed me the experiment as a laugh but I thought it was the greatest thing I have ever seen, and do it religiously every day."

Physics lecturer Phil Stubbles revealed that almost all vegetables mixed with energy drinks could power an iPod because of the mixture of ions.

"The only problem is you have no control over how long it may work for... and it can be smelly," said Stubbles.

Neat idea- apparently you can also make a battery out of a lemon and some copper pennies if I remember right. Or was it a potato?

But did this guy ever think about how much energy it takes to produce, package, and ship the energy drink? And to fertilize, harvest, and ship the onions? And then there is either the waste produced by the energy drink's packaging which will probably end up in a landfill for eternity, or else all the energy used to recycle the packaging.

There's always a cost. Always.

...still kickass...

I thought he would be far more likely to have an mpea3 player instead.............................

Please, no more unoriginal copycat puns.

By making this, you dumbass.

 Stuck his usb cable into the onion......

Nah, I'd be too scared to do that. I've ruined ipods before, and I'm clumsy, so I'd probably screw up my expensive ipod.
