Coldplay In History

Yea, I hated X&Y first time thru. I had read some reviews that said the album was just a U2 copy. At first listen I was like, "Dammit, they DID just copy U2!"

then I heard Fix You:heart: and from that point on I have never doubted them for a second

Lol. Yeah. The first time through I was like "But, all the songs sound the same!!!" :P

I remember Swallowed In The Sea and Fix You really standing out though.

i wonder about this all the time too. i don't think they'll be completely forgotten, but unless they keep going and keep up the quality, i think they'll just be thought of as some popular band from the early 2000s that had some good songs and sold a lot of records, not a band that fits in the pantheon of the beatles and the rolling stones and U2.

however, i also think that they are damn close to releasing their sargent pepper or joshua tree (in the minds of the critics...to me, that album is AROBTTH) and then they'll be able to get the proper respect that i think it takes to become part of the legendary rock cannon. of course, U2 and the beatles and everyone had/have their haters, but i feel like it's a bit stronger with coldplay, for some reason that i'll never understand. i think they need to be a bit more respected by everyone, though i think they're doing everything right, so i have no ideas on how they should do that.

as much as i want them to be considered legendary, as long as they go on making music for a good while longer, it doesn't matter much to me, i guess. i really think they just need to keep going, though. then i think they have a good shot at making it into the cannon

I think it's because of the common thought that Chris is a cocky, arrogant, whiny, douchebag.

same here. Speed of Sound caught my attention early on. But one day on the bus I was listening to the album, and this song called Fix You came on. At the chorus, I suddenly recognized it....from the preview for the movie World Trade Center. it had played the "lights will guide you home" line. So when I heard it in the song, I was like "no fucking way! Coldplay did it again!"

Lol yeah, those commercials were like totally magic.

I don't think I even ended up watching the movie. But those commercials gave me chills.

I never did see the movie either. But if it had not been for that song recognition, I may not be the Coldplay fan I am today.

Well then thank god they made that movie, eh? ;)

I guess

Hmm.

Yeah.

That's also cool to think that we're part of it.

You know fans before they hit that huge scale success. And just through it all.

With the classic legendary bands, well I'm obviously too young to have been there when they were growing and building up to their huge fame and success.

I think that's really great when you think of it that way.

It is cool to think of it that way, to be a part of history.

Coldplay is the first band I have followed from the beginning. Well, I mean since Parachutes came out in the states. So as close to the beginning as I can get anyway.

It has been great to watch them grow and become so successful.
