i bought a guitar about three years back but couldn't get the hang of it and took to playing it rested across my knee, plucking the strings with my right hand and pressing down on the fretboard as though it was a piano (since i can actually play piano). i found it much easier that way but i looked like a retard. it wasn't something i was doing in front of others though.

i reckon i'd be better suited to a harp if i was going to get a string instrument.

I was earning guitar at school once, but I quit because the teacher kept yelling at me for memorizing the notes instead of reading them.

I can play the piano too, but my main passion and love is the guitar, I've recently been developing an interest with the Cello:confused: although I doubt I will learn to play.

I hate in gym class the fitness runs you do with partners, because the time you get with them is your time, so if you're with a slow runner you just failed.

i always worked with memory rather than reading music when i learned piano. didn't learn to read music till after i'd stopped lessons and did music at high school.

I read music, because it's kind of hard to memorize it when you have complex fingerings. You have to know the fingerings and connect that with the notes.

For me it depends, I can and do read music fine but depending on the song I will play from memory as it's more natural.

THIS.

i could always play the music i learned with my eyes closed. at first i had the notes written out in front of me under the squiggles and symbols i was supposed to be playing from and then i just kept playing and playing and remembering where it went until it became natural. then i closed my eyes and played it and thought i was cool. and i was cool.

Ugh.

I should have stayed learning the guitar.

I can't read sheet music, so I just learn based off tabs and memorize the songs.

Is anyone else picky about their insturments?

picky how so?

I have to have an electric piano because my neighbours complain if I don't play with headphones. :blank:

Not picky, maybe that was the wrong word, how I mean is, for example, I find Gibsons/Epiphones too heavy after a while and am not that keen on the way they sound, I respect them as instruments but I can't get on with them very well myself.

I can play the triangles and the maracas.
