Fans being ripped off by agencies??

Featured Replies

Hi

am new to this site - but just wanted to let off a bit of steam here! I dont know if the band ever see these threads or someone monitors for them but want someone in management to know how we are being ripped off by ticket selling agencies.

I bought 2 tickets from one such agency back in November for the 2nd June concert at The Emirates. Few tickets were available then so i took the £148 per ticket option ( as being reasonably cheap compared with some on the site at that time!!) Felt it was expensive but since they were a present for my partner i was prepared to fork out (over £300 in the end with booking fees and delivery). Imagine my horror when the tickets arrived last week to see the face value was £65!! What an outrageous mark up!

Feel that the band themselves - being lovely guys - would be appalled.

supply meets demand. we don't like it but currently UK legislation doesn't prohibit it. Welcome to Coldplaying :)

Thanks for quick reply - how then can I find out what the face value price of a ticket is so I can make a decision about whether to pay the mark up or not? I'm certainly not complaining about the concert which was fabulous - but about feeling stupid and gullible, I guess!!

It's legal touting ticket brokers.I don't like it either but there is nothing that can be done at the moment. The government know about it, but choose to do nothing.Even Ticketmaster have their own secondry market site.

More tickets for shows always become available at a later date.Even try eBay, but just have your wits about you.

Pretty much any bands/artists touring will have fans being ripped off by these ticket sites that sell them for about 5-10x face value on the ticket itself :/ I was almost tempted to use one recently so I could finally get a Coldplay ticket for Saturday coming, even if it would cost me about £80-100 just for 1 ticket, but thankfully I held back and managed to get one for myself on eBay for only £59 :) eBay does seem like your cheapest option for getting tickets, the prices on that have also shot down a fair amount! at first a few months back 2 tickets would sell anywhere from £150-200+ and you'd be lucky to get it for less :| but now in recent weeks I've saw a lot of 2 tickets sell for only £100-120 :o even single tickets have dropped to being only £10-20 off the face value price, rather than paying about £100+ per ticket!

It is very unfortunate that these 3rd party ticket sites can legally get away with trying to sell concert/event tickets for a much much higher price than you would originally be buying it for :/ hopefully one day someone will put a stop to it, so that they'll have to find some other means of raking in the money, and not any other form of ripping people off either!

Sorry to hear that. I think it's disguisting as well. I struggled to get a ticket I could afford. Finally got one off ebay and paid only a few quid over face value.

There is a thread on here as well where ppl can only sell at face value - although I didn't buy a ticket via that thread I pmed a few ppl from it who all seemed genuine and lovely :) ...maybe helpful for next time?

And welcome :)
