has a wierd sound when he plays "12:51."

 

anyone know what it is?

he must be using some pedal...

its too strong of a sound (whatever that means) to be playing at the end of the guitar (like the part farthest from the neck)

does anyone else think his bass sounds different in this song?

so yea, back to the topic:

I think you're right, he probably uses some kind of distortion pedal.. or maybe its a different tune.. i got the 12.51 tab on mxtabs a few months ago and it sounds okay.

 

the intro is like, E on the D string, then C on the A string.

and the verse its like E on the D, then open A string, F on the D string, and B on the A string.

 

and i'm pretty sure that these are the right notes cos i downloaded the 12.51 vid and checked what nikolai plays and its exactly that.

so probably the reason why it sounds different is his distortion pedal.

and yea, i think thats the only song where he uses it cos all the other bass lines sound okay when i play em, like automatic stop, whatever happened, etc.

i finally played all the room on fire tracks yesterday. it was so intense. And since i couldnt find my pick, my fingers are totally screwed now. ha

 

now i'll see if i can learn all the is this it lines. or maybe i'll start working on a radiohead album. but i dunno, radiohead lines are way too complicated.

yeah i used to play most of the strokes songs but i forgot alot since i dont never have my bass at home now.

haha yea, i know what you mean. the first time i played reptilia with my fingers i almost died. ha well, not really, but it really sucked. even 12.51 is kinda complicated without a pick. but i guess you get used to the pain after a few tries.
