Confessions of an anxious rock god: The Coldplay frontman sits down with Rolling Stone for his most in-depth interview yet.   When Chris Martin emerges from a town car on a quiet West Village street one afternoon in May, he's dressed like a stagehand — black khakis, black hooded top. You'd never notice him, which is probably the idea.   But then he starts singing Talking Heads' "Girlfriend Is Better" loud enough to be heard from across the street. The guy can't help it: He's a ham. The paparazzi

Written by Coldplayfan1294.   There’s something magical about the “Unstaged” performance of “The Scientist.” It doesn’t even seem fair to choose one song as that entire concert was incredible during the MX era. “The Scientist” during a Coldplay set always seems like the meditative, peaceful lull in a set that pulsates with energy. Perhaps that is what is most amazing about “The Scientist” and the impact it has on Coldplay fans.   Aside from the initial outcry from fans when Chris plays the ope

'Viva La Vida' is the best song to wake up to, according to music streaming service, Spotify and Scientific studies! 'Strawberry Swing' was also recently named on a top 10 list of the most relaxing songs ever, so while Coldplay aren't conquering the charts right now, they're topping a lot of other lists!   Read the full article here (Thanks Gai)

It's what you might call having a wacky moment.   As she collected her daughter from nursery, Gwyneth Paltrow clearly decided to take a leaf out of Michael Jackson's book. 'Wacko Jacko' is known for covering his children's faces with veils in public, but the Hollywood actress went one step further, hiding both herself and three-year-old Apple under a long black shawl.   But if Gwyneth, 34, hoped to avoid attracting attention as they left the building in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, she failed. The world's "biggest bootlegger" who ripped off some of entertainment's biggest names, has been jailed. Mark Purseglove, 33, who pocketed £15m, was sentenced to three and a half years at London's Blackfriars Crown Court on Thursday in connection with the racket. For at least 11 years he used illicit recordings made by sound engineers and concertgoers to create counterfeit CDs.   Coldplay, Oasis, The Beatles, Eminem, Madonna and the Rolling Stones were among the hundreds of artists targeted. So the cat’s finally out of the bag: ‘Live Earth,’ the much-talked-about music concert that ex-United States Vice President Al Gore is organizing in the name of global warming, is now a full-fledged project to be organized on a massive, multi-cultural scale.   “It was the most stellar array of media figures you could ever see but to get all those people in the room on a Friday night shows how willing they are to help,” said an inside source, referring to a top-secret meeting Gore had with the m

It’s amazing how far Coldplay has come in the past decade: At this time in 1998, they were a college-based band in London. By 2000, with the release of “Parachutes” and their hit “Yellow,” they got big. “A Rush of Blood to the Head” then made Coldplay both a critic and fan favorite, winning the Grammy for Best Alternative Album and selling over 12 million copies worldwide.   By 2005’s “X&Y,” the band was huge: It had released the world’s second best-selling album of 2005 and was the first B

Malaysian authorities have published a list of undesirable titles to prevent parents giving their children names such as Hitler, smelly dog or 007. Such choices are not allowed, but there is a right of appeal.   Parents will not be able to call their babies after animals, insects, fruit, vegetables or colours.   More on this here [thanks mc_squared]

Urban music lately has dabbled in electronic sounds, but Kanye West takes it a step further with the synth-heavy first single from his upcoming CD.   "Stronger" samples Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" and slows down the beat. At No. 47, the track is the top debut of the week on the Billboard Hot 100. "That melody just hit me so hard," West says when asked about the song's inspiration. "I mean, it's the music. It wasn't a gimmick thing. That's not atypical of Kanye," Def Jam presid

The full scans from Coldplay's special feature in this week's Q Magazine are up! Special thanks go to newscoldplay.tumblr.com.   Within the colourful article, there are tons of memorable quotes, from Chris Martin and even a few from Noel Gallagher. The frontman of Coldplay also compares his career path to that of superstar footballer, Lionel Messi!   Q Magazine finalized their article by rating 'A Head Full Of Dreams' 4 stars out of 5. They praised the colour and energy of the album but were

Americans have been hearing about the next big thing in British rock, and wanting to believe it, ever since the Beatles made their clamorous stateside debut at New York's Shea Stadium in 1964. That may help to explain the scepticism, and the disappointment, that has greeted the Arctic Monkeys as they tried to replicate their impact on British pop culture on the other side of the Atlantic.   "Overhyped Monkeys," was the verdict of one critic. He was not alone. The Sheffield band made a mediocre

Today is a special day. It marks 15 years since Coldplay supported Muse at the Newcastle University Student Union's concert. The new band on the block, Coldplay, had just released their first single, titled Shiver and were recording the official music video for Yellow on a Dorset beach.   For Coldplaying.com, it was newly formed and created by Ian (Busybeeburns). The archived post you'll be linked to below was the first ever Coldplaying.com article! Nostalgia!!!   According to setlist.fm, the

Tonight was special. Just before the show started - the second of three in Buenos Aires - I was asked to do two jobs during the concert.   Job number 1 was straightforward. On cue, I had to help throw some giant coloured balloons into the crowd during 'Yellow'. It may sound easy, and, well, it was. And a whole lot of fun too!   Job number 2 on the other hand was a little more involved. Miller, who's in charge of making sure Chris' piano sounds great, is also the tour diarist and general document
