Jerry Hall, who recently had a reality show titled “Kept”, a competition with younger suitors vying for her attention and to be kept, says she's fed-up with boy toys - because they're poor in bed and listen to Coldplay.   Hall, 48, who once was married to Mick Jagger, who is well into his 60’s says she prefers a mature mind. The former model believes older men are better lovers, and feels they are more experienced and know how to please.   Hall continues, “Anyway, younger men make you listen to

Gwyneth Paltrow (in Burberry, with Helena Christensen) hits the town Tuesday to catch a screening of onetime fiancé Brad Pitt's film Babel in New York City.   But she had another man on her mind: her 6-month-old son, Moses. "I'm frazzled. My baby would just not settle," she said. "Yes, I have a good sitter. And he's fine now; he settled just before I left. But it was a long process."   The previous day, Paltrow steers the course for her mini-me, 2-year-old daughter Apple. Also along for the rid

Private jets, African hideaways, prenuptial parties, red carpet rages – life is so different for rich celebrities. And so, apparently, is death.   When most of us shuffle off this mortal coil our earning power ends. But if you are a rich entertainer the pay cheques can keep coming.   Elvis Presley died in 1977 but he is still earning $52 million a year. The Arctic Monkeys are favourites to win this year's Mercury Music Prize for album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, at a ceremony in London. Bookmakers say the album, which became the fastest-selling debut album in the UK in February, has "frozen the rest of the field out of the betting".   "It'll be a major surprise if they fail to win," said a Ladbrokes spokesman.   The Sheffield-based band are up against nominees including Muse, Editors, Thom Yorke, Richard Hawley and Guillem

You can’t even trust artists to avoid dropping spoilers these days. Walking through the Bell Centre doors on Thursday, you were given a nifty Coldplay bracelet. Walking into the belly of the arena, you were requested via a host of screens to wear the device, because “it will light up automatically in the show.” Then you were given a pictorial lesson in how to apply a bracelet to a wrist, just in case you had already spent your paycheque at the beer concession, writes the Montreal Gazette in a re

Love-ins of this magnitude don't happen often. British rock band Coldplay held court last night, bringing its soaring, anthemic pop to an enraptured crowd of 19,000 fans at the Bell Centre.   It's no secret that Coldplay wants to be the new U2. A lack of musical heft aside, the group appears to be well on its way. The standing ovation started the moment the lights dropped, and didn't let up until the end of the encore. Cheers were deafening and singalongs were omnipresent.   Leaning heavily on m

More excellent reviews of Coldplay's concert at the Home Depot Center, Carson, CA (18th July 2009) have been posted at the Coldplay Live forum, that didn't quite make the main review article in time this morning. Here are just some of the many:   Okay the show last night was incredible. It beat my experience at the Honda Center last year. I couldn't see sometimes because i'm only 5'5 but when I started looking around heads i could(plus the Bigscreens). Anyways it was so much fun, Chris was his u

Coldplay's fifth album - Mylo Xyloto - is now over a week old (officially anyway) and as well as the media reviews we've been posting we promised another batch of Coldplayer 'first impression' reviews, along with the latest poll results from the main site and the forums. So far we've had in total somewhere in the region of 2500 votes asking what you thought of Mylo Xyloto - on a sliding scale from 10 (Brilliant) to 0 (Crap). Read on for some more of those reviews and also the latest polling figu

There isn't a whole lot of Coldplay news to report tonight, but I read some things related to the upcoming Glastonbury Festival that made me want to post.   First off, one of the festival's main acts, The White Stripes, are talking about breaking up due to becoming too popular? It's amazing to think about how much of an effect popularity has on up-and-coming bands. It certainly affected Kurt Cobain and Eddie Vedder in the early 90s, and it looks like it is now taking its toll on one of the bands

MORE good news for Coldplay’s Chris Martin: his beautiful movie star wife is to perfect her cooking skills.   Gwyneth Paltrow is to co-host a cooking show for US TV in which she travels around Spain on a culinary road trip. Her friend Mario Batali, a celebrity chef, told her of his plan to travel through Spain. “I told him, ‘I'll go with you’. Later, he was like, ‘Are you joking?’ And I was like, ‘No, I’m actually not joking!’” said Paltrow, who has fond childhood memories of holidays in the co

More details have arrived about little Moses‘ birth! The firstborn son of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin was born in NYC at Mount Sinai Hospital — but there’s no official word on his method of egress (i.e. scalpel or pushing).   He weighed in at 8 pounds, 4 ounces on 4/8 (ooh… the numbers are the same!) — checking in at about 9:00 in the morning. For what it’s worth, big sister Apple was nearly a pound and a half bigger at birth: she weighed 9 pounds, 11 ounces when she was born on May 14, 200

After she became pregnant again last year, Gwyneth Paltrow was a little reluctant to reveal the fact despite relentless speculation.   But as she bared her bump at the weekend, she showed that she has overcome any coyness about the good news.   The 33-year-old actress, who is due to give birth to her second child in May, looked radiant as she wore a towel and a bikini top while relaxing at the poolside of a luxury hotel during a holiday in Mexico, where she is staying with her 21-month-old daug

Name the band that you'd least expect to deliver a Michael Jackson tribute. Metallica? Marilyn Manson? How about Coldplay? It was the latter that surprised the capacity crowd at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View on Monday with its tribute to the recently departed King of Pop, writes San Jose's Mercury News.   And the real shocker was how Coldplay went about it. Late in the set, the quartet moved from Shoreline's big main stage to a smaller platform, which probably measured no more than

A quarter-life crisis isn't as rare as people would think anymore. It's likely to see someone verging on 30 beginning to panic in regards to their future. In "The Last Kiss," a remake of Gabriele Muccino's Italian "L'Ultimo Bacio," four friends approaching their 30s find their lives being thrown into chaos.   Michael (Zach Braff) and his girlfriend Jenna (Jacinda Barrett) have just found out they will be having a baby. Out of all their friends, they seem to have the most stable relationship. Iz

One reporter says he feels sorry for actress   Gwyneth Paltrow’s hubby was so rude to journalists in Brazil that one is saying he feels sorry for the “Shakespeare In Love” star for being married to him.   “Gwyneth Paltrow must suffer,” opined a writer from Folha de Sao Paulo, according to our translator. “Chris Martin, her husband isn’t one of the nicest persons on earth. At least that’s what it seemed on the 20 minutes press conference.”   The Coldplay frontman was in the South American countr
