Coldplay delighted fans in Exeter as the city played host to their final gig of the decade, writes the Express & Echo today. The one-off event was a homecoming concert for frontman Chris Martin, who was brought up in Whitestone, just outside Exeter. Music lovers had travelled from as far away as Italy and Australia for the Mencap Big Noise charity concert at Exeter Castle, with an audience of just 500 guests, including friends and family of the band. Others had queued for up to two days to

This weekend Coldplay - supported by Lily Allen and La Roux – headlined Mencap’s Big Noise gig in Exeter Castle, to raise money and awareness for people with learning disabilities. This genius annual event is curated and hosted by Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley, who is an ambassador for Mencap. When Grazia Daily discovered that Whiley’s daughter India is an up-and-coming photographer, (who at 17 already has an amazing live music portfolio), Grazia couldn’t resist commissioning her to take some exclusive

The year 2005 was quite a good one for music. Coldplay released the lush X&Y [pictured], with biggest-band-in-the-world written all over it. Kanye West dropped Late Registration, an over-the-top, self-indulgent, yet somehow musically sophisticated record. Late Registration encapsulated the highs and lows of the savior of what I like to call “hip-pop” music. Smaller groups like Arcade Fire and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, as well as not-so-small-anymore rockers The Killers, saw their musical car

Gwyneth Paltrow beams with pride as she shows off newborn son Moses, the Mirror reports today. The smiling actress cradled the six-day-old baby as they left New York's private Mount Sinai Hospital at the weekend. But little Moses wearing a pair of cute blue bootees and snuggled in a white shawl - slept through it all. Gwyneth, 33, and husband Chris Martin, below, gave the tot his unusual name after the title of a love song the Coldplay frontman wrote about her. It includes the line: "Like Mos

Watch the entire episode here It really couldn't possibly get any worse for Andy Millman. Seriously. Following on from last week's Down Syndrome debacle, Andy kicked-off tonight's show with a charity video appeal, only to subsequently find his entire BBC sitcom hijacked by a shamelessly self-promoting Chris Martin. However, the Coldplay front-man's repeated attempts to hawk a forthcoming greatest hits album was really only the start of Andy's problems, as he ended up nominated for a BAFT

Schoolgirl Sarah Sainsbury asked pop stars Coldplay for their autographs to sell for charity - and got a triple platinum disc worth £4,000. Sarah, 17, wrote to the rockers requesting help with her school’s appeal to aid Breast Cancer Care. She was astonished when the band sent her the signed disc of their album A Rush Of Blood To The Head. Sarah, of Farnham, Surrey, sent the gift to a London fashion event, where it was auctioned for £4,000. She said: “I was amazed and delighted when I heard

Apparently Chris read the review of the Liverpool gig (by JJ at www.shakenstir.co.uk) and thought it was so good that they are going to use it as part of the press release for the new album. I'm sure the fans would love to read it as well. Lets wait and see! "What is there left to prove for this act? They've released a classic debut album, critics love them, fans adore them, and they need not try anymore! But that would not be in their make up, for as vocalist Chris martin said to me after

An nme.com reader has explained how he nudged Chris Martin out of a job by evading London Royal Festival Hall security and stormed the stage at the band's Meltdown gig to take over the mic for ‘Yellow’. So who was this interloper - a budding star or a pissed-up twat? He was tracked him down via a manhunt posted on nme.com and it turns out he is a bit of both! Patrick Harvey, 26, from Birmingham told NME he’d spent an afternoon drinking wine to give him the Dutch courage to upstage Martin and s

About 60 Coldplay fans saw red at the multiple Grammy-winning band's sold-out concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Monday. They had paid the top-tier $251 tickets for the first and second rows, only to be told at the venue on the day that both rows did not exist. Ticketing agency Sistic had made a mistake. Ticket buyer Ahmed M. Didi, a marketing manager from Maldives, is fuming mad at being left in the cold. The 39-year-old Coldplay fan, who works in Singapore, had bought five of the

Coldplay have postponed Sunday's scheduled concert at the Ford Amphitheatre [pictured] and although the official news wouldn't go into detail it is known that band cancelled due to 'artist-related medical reasons'. We also now know that it is Chris Martin who has fallen ill. Here are some of the recent comments from Coldplayers, some of whom were due to travel to Tampa's Ford Amphitheater tomorrow: Well here I am in Raleigh-Durham airport, was about to fly to Tampa when a friend tipped me off

Fatherhood has spurred campaigning Chris Martin to do even more work for charity. Chris has always been passionate about causes like fair trade and the third world debt - but has become even more committed about making the world a better place since his actress wife Gwyneth Paltrow gave birth to baby daughter Apple in May last year. He explains, "Being a new father has made me look at the world differently. I'm a father who travels a lot and has seen how rich nations like ours exploit poorer
