    Q. First off, Coldplay is probably one of the best bands I've heard. Such versatility in their music is unprecedented and unique. Thanks to all the sound/recording engineers who have worked with Coldplay, and making their uniqueness come alive! Now, my question--which comes from my sound/recording engineering studies--is: does Coldplay have a company in charge of running all their sound at every single one of their shows or does Coldplay just deal with the "in-venue" or "in-house" engineers? And is there a way to contact these companies, or engineers?

    The Oracle replies:

Actually Coldplay have used the same sound engineer for their live shows since about 1999! His name is Dan Green.

    Q. Is the handwriting in the blog of "a letter from Chris" actually his handwriting?

    The Oracle replies:

    Indeed it is.

    Q. Hi Oracle, I watched the Live 2003 DVD again the other day and noticed that during Yellow there was an acoustic guitar being played yet none of the guys were playing it. I've also noticed similar extra effects being added throughout other live performances that couldn't have possibly been played by the band.

Am I right in thinking there is a fifth member backstage who plays extra instruments and if so who is this person?

    The Oracle replies:

Matt McGinn played the acoustic part on guitar during that tour but generally speaking unless it's a guitar you're hearing, it isn't a 'real' instrument that's being played.

    Q. Oracle, will the guys ever do a Chris Cornell song? Chris' voice sounds kinda similar to the other Chris!

    The Oracle replies:

I don't want to offend you Imran but they sound nothing like each other! In fact, the only thing they appear to have in common is that they are both male singer/songwriters/musicians named Chris!

That said Chris M is a fan of

    vocals.
