How do you listen to music?
How do you listen to music? MP3 player, iPhone, radio, internet, vinyl? If the 50’s and 60's were the era of the record, in the 70's we had tape, (lovely 8-tracks and cassettes!), and the Sony Walkman, then CD's in the 80’s and now MP3's. This Day in Music is running a poll to find out how you listen to your music. If you fancy having a vote http://tinyurl.com/tdimpoll

What are you reading right now?
Polly Samson's new book ‘Perfect Lives’. It’s collection of short stories. Here is a video clip with Polly talking about the new book. http://www.viragobooks.net/polly-samson-and-perfect-lives/ Apparently the title is ironic because although the characters reappear in each other's stories, they don’t seem to have perfect lives at all!

Which one are you?
A study of more than 36,000 people from around the world concluded that musical tastes and personality type were closely related. The research, which was carried out by Professor Adrian North of Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh in the UK suggested classical music fans were shy, while heavy metal fans were gentle and at ease with themselves. Fans of Indie music had low self-esteem and were not hard working, fans of Rap music had high self-esteem and were outgoing. Country & Western fans were hardworking and outgoing, Reggae fans were creative but not hardworking, and fans of chart pop had high self-esteem, were not creative, but where hardworking and outgoing. John meets Paul
July 6th 1957 John Lennon and Paul McCartney met for the first time at The Woolton Church Parish Fete where The Quarry Men were appearing. As The Quarry Men were setting up for their evening performance, McCartney eager to impress Lennon picked up a guitar and played ‘Twenty Flight Rock’ (Eddie Cochran) and ‘Be-Bop-A-Lula’ (Gene Vincent). Lennon was impressed, and even more so when McCartney showed Lennon and Eric Griffiths how to tune their guitars, something they'd been paying someone else to do for them. Just imagine if they'd never met? From http://www.thisdayinmusic.com
