  1. Surely Amazing Day has the most clichéd melody ever written? It's like Coldplay trying hard to do a Coldplay song. It's just terrible.
  2. You have a point to be honest, Bono gyrating around on stage springs to mind. Doesn't really detract from U2s music.
  3. Such a bizzare turn around from guys that look like serious artists to Chris looking like he wants to be Justin Bieber and wondering which fangirl he wants that night. Really incredible.
  4. I hear a lot of cheesy "believe in love" type lyrics from 1D and boy bands. The fangirls go crazy for it "Chris is sooooo cute"...... $$$$another million albums sold.
  5. It would be nice to listen to good music which I don't hear much of from Coldplay these days.
  6. I think Chris has made this album in an attempt to stay "relevant" and "cool", I think it very obvious. I don't think he cares about older fans who liked Coldplays earlier work, in his mind he's "moved on" to "poppy"(poopy) and "hip" places and rock is dead anyway.
  7. Clocks, Fix You and Yellow didn't sound like they'd been artificially created for the charts, virtually every song on AHFOD does, from the songwriting to the production clinical and cheesy. It sounds like Chris has sat down and thought "how can I make it to number 1 and be cool and current". He's thrown the full works at it, Beyonce, Noel Gallagher, Tove Lo, even Gweneth and Obama! It's all a mess and just sounds like a desperate ploy to make it to the top. Up to VLV, it sounded like they cared about the quality and not the quantity of sales, now it sounds like they care about the quantity of sales and not the quality. I still stick by the thought that AHFOD sounds like the breakdown of Coldplay on record, it's such a mess of production and ideas with no clear goal or thread of thought through it.
  8. Dancing apes, pop chart radio fodder, multi colored stadium tours, star guests. All very much commercial marketing to sell records and make money,i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it has come from their record company. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  9. You just don't have the millions of girls wanting you ;-) Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  10. Chris Martin has become a bit of an embarrassment. The jumping around, crotch grabbing, the grabbing the Teenage girls hands on stage, the colored clothes etc, etc. He's turned into the member of a boyband at the age of 38 and dragged the rest of Coldplay with him, they're nothing much more than a Beats promoting commercial vehicle now trying to market themselves to the mass market . I'd have hoped he'd be maturing and his music would be evolving and getting more mature and intelligent but he's literally, musically, creatively going backwards. It couldn't be further from what I am and what I loved about them in the first place. AHFOD shocks me, it's like the unravelling of a great band on record. An album devoid of any sort of songwriting craft or intelligence. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  11. If it sinks in the charts, it'll be remembered badly. Is a big tour enough to get it remembered well?
  12. Yeah, noone is having a go at them as people, we're just saying that the quality of music they produce is now not at a good standard. What I would say is that most of the oldplayers are confused as to why Chris would take the band in a boring and bland direction, seemingly aimed at a mass audience. It seems a very cynical move to appeal to everyone and to sell albums. Star guests, poppy production and radio friendly blandness (could they be under pressure from their record company?) . There seems to be such a decline in the quality of melodies and songs Chris is writing, it just all seems so lazy and clichéd now whereas before they were crafted and intelligent almost at a Radiohead level. I don't think it's Chris and the band "moving on" and having a different direction now, I just think Chris is maybe running out of ideas, it's a natural thing that happens to songwriters. Amazing Day for example is possibly the laziest and clichéd of songs I've ever heard, it's A+B=C Coldplay.
  13. I'd say take a look at U2 for making a dance/pop album whilst maintaining artistic integrity. Their album "Pop" is a good example of this "Mofo" for example is a great dance type track which shows Edges talents off whilst keeping a heavy U2 sound, it's an absolutely brilliant track, same for "Discotheque". Pop is a very underrated U2 album which shows this to some extent.
  14. I think Chris has thought "how do we stay relevant and fresh". This is why were getting such a mix of genre of songs and Stargate production, however the phrase "you can't polish a turd" springs to mind, the tunes aren't there and all the production, special guests and pop sounding stuff isnt going to hide that. I also think Chris is very misguided when it comes to the direction he's taking, he's taking a route into radio friendly background music, a million miles away from the interesting and complex melodies he used to write, the new songs sound like they've came from a team of songwriters writing for 1D and I don't think they'd be out of place on a 1D album. The jumping around and crotch grabbing I could live with if the songs were actually worth sitting through the cringe of the stage performance. Sent from my Nexus 6P
  15. Just catching up and reading through some posts on other threads saying Amazing Day is better than Yellow and it's the greatest album ever etc.......lol. Incredible, I can only assume these people don't listen to much music! Sent from my Nexus 6P
  16. The ultimate problem with AHFOD alongside Stargate is just that the tunes aren't good. It's just an average to poor album.
  17. RIP Coldplay, I've really no interest in them anymore.
  18. I've met Noel, he signed my CD, and I've met Chris backstage.
  19. Oh dear I'm really not hearing much from the new album that is very good. Amazing Day is so dull and bland, Everglow is a boring ballad that tries too hard. Up & Up is the only one that is a little better, mostly because of the great solo at the end. AOAL is completely forgettable and uninteresting but AHFOD is not too bad. From the songs so far, 5/10.

It's someone's opinion that the song is "utter shit", it's someone else's that it's not. I don't think any line has been crossed. If someone wants to take offence and be hurt and offended by someone's opinion of what is at the end of the day, only a song then i would say that it's that persons problem. Everyone needs to chill, some people love it, some hate it. That's life. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

I lost my old password and it's easier to login under a new password and username on Tapatalk,I've been on here for over 10 years. Coldplay are an incredible band and produced classic songs and albums and I quite liked Ghost Stories.I just find this song virtually indefensible. There's no spark or creativity or anything in it,it just sounds dull. If people like it then enjoy it and ignore what I think,it's only my opinion at the end of the day. Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
