I see that. The world is truly a dark place after all. Even with all this new church music going around like VLV there is no hope. Wait wasnt Violet Hill a dark song. What are they trying to say? So why is VLV a happy, poppy song? APARY is just weird. Lost? is truly Lost. Too bad its not as interesting as the TV show....and where the hell was I?

I have no problems with them going in a different direction...but why go the route of the unpopular and annoying synth sounds? I dont get it. I feel like Im in church listening to this music. Seriously the band has excellent musicians and they chose to ignore their talents. Why not go with an album with more guitars? Why follow U2's same path? Why name your album something that will always be referenced back to Ricky Martin? Sorry but they have stepped down the evolutionary ladder on this one. There maybe no fixing this.

I said this last year that coldplay was going in the wrong direction and myself and others in this forum who saw this coming were right. Too bad because I would have loved to be wrong about this. I cant believe the amount of people who think that this is their best work. This is the same people who loved AROBTTH and X&Y now like synth music? I dont get it.

Best Coldplay songs ever? Ok everyone needs to relax. Take a deep breath. Actually Ill take one too. We are ALL jumping to conclusions here. We need to take a step back and look at the big picture.

So you are saying its right for those same people who might bash the album in the near future, to post now and say they love it now just because the majority likes it? Its also right for them to bash my opinions also...meanwhile they might agree with me in the future?

Whats disturbing to me is the fact that diehard Coldplay fans are so quick to "love" the new music. It sounds like nothing we have heard before...but after one or two listens everyone is in love with the songs. I didn't realize everyone was so adaptable to change. I guess its just me then. IMO the same people who are now bashing X&Y loved it when it came out. Everyone seems to go with the flow. The same thing will happen now. In a year or two or maybe even a couple of months we will start hearing the whispers about how we hope they go back to the sounds of AROBTTH because that's when they were at their peak. You k ow what...they never will because they know the majority of fans will still buy their music regardless of what they put out there because everyone follows everyone else. We are like sheep.

You know the response Im going to get. It'll be something like this... Not everyone was going to like this album...including diehard Coldplay fans like yourself. We apologize but if you want to hear our music when we really gave a shit about the music and our fans, and not about our huge egos, just listen to AROBTTH or any of our earlier work. We are very busy with our fame and fortune and celebrity wives at this time but we would like to thank you for buying our music and making us rich and famous. Sincerely the best band in the world.

When they play the new songs in concert I guess the band can go backstage and take a break. Except for Chris...he'll have to man the keyboard or computer. Hopefully he doesn't get the dreaded blue screen of death on stage. That will be embarassing!

viva la vida is big? Its in the same class as their previous big songs like Clocks, Yellow, and The Scientist? LOL!!! That song would be trash in the 80's let alone now. BTW would someone give me a logical explanation why any band would leave potentially the best songs they made for a particular album off it? That's like if they left Clocks or Yellow off. Theyre too good for the album, maybe well make more money and release them as singles or maybe on a LIVE DVD or something. Is this bizarro world or something? In case you didn't know...its 2008...not 1984. Synth sounds are the worst. Why even have a band? Just use a computer like NIN and be done with it. Maybe VLVODAHF is a joke and they are releasing a real album at the same time. Or maybe this is a dream...or rather a nightmare. Please!!!

You can't deny the similarities with U2. U2 experimented with synth sounds on Achtung Baby and continued to use them until 2000 when they realized the error of their ways and went back to what made them the band they were. They used synth sounds to get as far away from Joshua Tree as possible. Now they have gone back to those days. Why couldn't Coldplay learn from U2's mistakes?!?

Guys I am not trying to speak for everyone. I apologize for my negative thread but I am just truly upset and disappointed with what they are doing. Now back to my ranting... All this talk about evolving has my head spinning. The band has been evolving over the years. AROBTTH was clearly a step in a different direction, albeit a small one. X&Y was also a step in a different direction, again albeit a small one. Songs like Low & Twisted Logic are different songs, but still have the Coldplay imprint on them. The songs we have heard so far are nothing like we heard before. Violet Hill is a different song, but I don't mind it as much because it doesnt have the dreaded synth sounds like the others. There is nothing to gain from using synth sounds. You have a band with talented musicians...use them!!!

So far the worst song on X&Y is better than anything we have heard so far. Its amazing how certain Coldplay fans cant admit that their beloved fan has taken a step back with Eno at the helm. Im in NYC and was looking foward to going to see them at the free concert but no longer. Free or not I am not seeing them.

...what a joke. Looks like that album will always be A Rush Of Blood To The Head. I am as diehard a Coldplay fan as you will find and there is no way we can be happy with this album so far. We have heard three songs, two off the album, and they are all not the Coldplay we all love. So why would they change their sound so dramatically? Did they do it because they truly believe they are the biggest band in the world and people will buy their music anyway? They should experiment on their own time but continue to reward their true fans with Coldplay music. I was so looking foward to their new album but with the name of the album being idiotic to the new music, I am looking foward to nothing.

IMO Violet Hill is missing something. Ive played it numerous times since Tuesday and it still hasnt grown on me yet and I fear it won't. Say what you want about Speed of Sound and In My Place...but those songs caught my attention right away. I am getting the feeling I am going to be extremely disappointed with the new album. Especially after hearing a clip of A Spell A Rebel Yell. If they wanted to evolve they shouldve went in a more rock direction. Bands evolve all the time, but they dont change what made them who they are.
