  1. Oh. And before you say anything else...friend. Take this and choke on it http://www.riaa.com/gp/bestsellers/topartists.asp
  2. I have never heard Ashlee Simpson. Nor do i particularly want to....oh wait. Yes i have. On launchcast. i gave her a nope nogety and not in a bazzilion years rating.
  3. But then that is not to say that radiohead are as enjoyable to listen to as the Beatles ever were. The Beatles have always been one of those bands that you can just listen to and not give a damn how they made their music. Radiohead have always been a band to make you stop go back and listen again...and again...and again trying to work out how they did something. Whether it is a guitar duel or whether it is how they do those bizzare sounds in Backdrifts.
  4. The Beatles are iconic because they have been around since the early 1960s. They are iconic because they died before 1971. They have been gone for nearly 40 yrs now. They are iconic because people exagerate their greatness. A large amount of the 130million+ of the people who have brought a Beatles album have done so because of this exageration. I say this as one of these buyers and to be honest in todays time they are dinosours. Just like the Beach boys...But this is not to say that for their time they were not making new ground. They started out as the quintisential boyband. From their they expanded. They started experimenting with new things. They were the first band to use tapes to go over redo and experiment with the sounds they made. They were the first band to use loops. They were pioneers...but this is not to say that they did everything. In contrast Radiohead has been around since 1991. This is only 14-15 years ago. They have released six albums. one of which has been voted greatest concept album of all time by a score of newspapers. They may not be iconic...yet. But then they have not been around long enough to be iconic. But imho they are better then the Beatles ever were. The Beatles are the first quintisential boyband that ever existed. Radiohead are better because they have made a name out of being against all that. They are a rock fusion band who are known for experimentalism. They have tried things that grantedly more nusically succesful bands like Coldplay would not even comprehend. For their creative juices they have probably not been as succesful as they could have been. If radiohead stayed Bends or OK Computer era it is hard to say how succesful they would have been. But they make their name through experimenting and finding out what they can do. And some of the technigues they used were discoverd by the Beatles. Or later bands who have gone on to discover more...but they have taken these ideas and added to them...it is Radioheads greatest ability. To take old ideas and to morph them into something new.
  5. Its also a shock to know that no album in the oos have topped 11 million
  6. Mwahahahahaha Nice to be of service
  7. Led Zepplin 4... Is actually the second highest album of the 70s Saying that. From 5 to 2 i9n the 70s they all have a rounded of figure of 15 million....
  8. I try to be an obtimist. I see it this way. You loook at things in a good light and lady luck might take favour. And if things go wrong i always think of the most positive aspect of the thing that went wrong.
  9. I often feel like i dont want to be here I dont want to life or to breath or to see. Knowing how useless the world is I cant help wishing not to be. Its only when your life is good that your happy when you own the world in your hand But if the price is lots of money Then i would sooner leave this land. Its useless to complain about the worlds shallowness How we force ourselves to believe we have a worth The western world tries to help the east Trying to fix the hurts of the earth. Hurts bestowed many years ago. By greed and power and want. These are a human code The basis of its font. So when you think of the world you live in Dont think of greatness and grandure Look at first on where to begin Know of the start to be sure Your children are most important. They need most the help. This is probably not going to be any good. I just this moment wrote it.
  10. Oh...Eskimo. By damien Rice. It makes me laugh at the absurdity of the message. And Bob Marleys "Dont worry" makes me happy.
  11. Beatles. Yellow Submarine...dont ask Coldplay. Yellow Rolling Stones. Ruby Tuesday Norah Jones. Toes Louis Armstrong. Beautiful World U2. Beautiful day There are many more songs that make me feel happy. I actually own some albums that make me feel happy. HTTT{Radiohead} makes me feel happy. The whole Hopes and fears album by keane makes me feel happy. And both of Norah Jones albums make me happy...in an out of it sort of way. Kinda like getting stoned without the drugs.
  12. Ok. Im gonna shook you all now. The greatest selling albums of all time are 1950s. Elvis Presley. Christmas special. 7.2 million 1960s. The Beatles. The white album. 19 million 1970s. Pink Floyd. The wall. 23.3 million 1980s. Michael Jackson Thriller. 29.3 million 1990s. Shania Twain. Come on over. 22.3 million 2000s Norah Jones. Come away with me 10.8 million These figures come froma book untitled the "100 greatest selling albums" The stats have been compiled by music gurus who know what they are on about. They have got these figures from Sales awards that the bands and singers have picked up in their carrears. You can also find a very very similer list from the RIAA. Infact check this list out. Very interesting http://www.riaa.com/gp/bestsellers/topartists.asp
  13. Bob Marley. Reminds me of my mum Even more so. John Lennons. Imagine. The song basically describes my mums philosophy. She used to believe you have to live and let live. Your betters and those who might be considered benieth you. She never believed in the class system. There is only money. The more you have the better you are for it. The less. The worse your financial situation. She believed that everyone should get along no matter what their situation, their colour, there political standing...none of that mattered. We are all equal. There are no betters and there are no worse. There is just situation and what you do that counts. Imagine Imagine there's no heaven, It's easy if you try, No hell below us, Above us only sky, Imagine all the people living for today... Imagine there's no countries, It isnt hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for, No religion too, Imagine all the people living life in peace... Imagine no possesions, I wonder if you can, No need for greed or hunger, A brotherhood of man, Imagine all the people Sharing all the world... You may say Im a dreamer, but Im not the only one, I hope some day you'll join us, And the world will live as one.
  14. This will shock some. And some it will not. Norah Jones is the highest selling artist since the start of the new mellenium. :smug:
  15. My Prediction I dont know what you guys will make of this. It is a song about terroism. I am sorry if it offends anyone from the east. Terroists are a miniscule minority in todays world. Its a song i wrote in response to what happened back in July I used to say the world was going nuts I used to say that things were getting bad Well people just called me a drama queen And told me i was really going mad But what can they say in todays world? When people blow themselves up all the time What can they say in todays world? When people like me saw the signs. I knew something bad was gonna happen Then 9/11 shoock the world And suddenly everyone was shocked and saddened Knowing they would soon have to rebuild No one seems to hear what i said They just pretend i dont exist No one ever heard what i said They just tick whos first on the list Then eyes turned to the east Bin Ladens home first and most of all An angry enraged and charging beast Who still couldn't bring about a fall So terror will gorge on a feast Continue to kick around the ball And watch those left grieve the deceased Who go to the heavens final call Though terror feels so secure Sure it's got the world in a bind Like a doctor who's just found the cure The world is about to unwind
  16. Re: Heres a song about my mum. wow, did that actually happen to you? Its a song about my mum... She died in 2004 No truer words will tou find
  17. Re: Heres a song about my mum. That was sad, and beautiful! Why thankyou
  18. When you guys have some genuine stabs at working out who the best are. Heres a clue for you to do with the noughties. No album has sold more then 11 million The highest selling album of the noughties sold 10.8 million. Bet you will never guess who it is though. Backstreet boys are in the top 10 of the noughities. But there is no way they have sold 80 million. More like 8 million...if that
  19. Hmm. Well all i will say is...damn theres my chanch with mrs Holmes gone then. Fucking barstard. Nicked my future wife.
  20. Heres a song about my mum. This is the first showing of a song i never thought i would show to anyone. You people should be honourd. This is the most personal song i have ever written. Forgate street station I would pass my mum If she didn't notice i was there With her back against the wall And her head between her feet No one tried to help he to be fair My mum had a drink and drugs problem A problem you wouldn'tr want to share Put yourself in myshoes for a moment See things through my reddened eyes This way you have no choice to warrent The reasons that i have to despise My mum was part of a vagrent current That helped me to see through the lies I wish people weren't blind of a world they look down on. So busy looking after number 1 they forget about those that have come undone. What about all the fathers and the mothers that fight in a world you all try to cover. Still no one stops to think at all...it could easily be me A year ago on June the 5th my mum died She went to hospital the previous week, we thought she would come out. A week later she died. I tried to be strong i really tried Must get through it beat the pain. My heads full of doubt From that point i was kind of fried I was in a mess my circuitry was out Then i went on holiday, had a break and stopped to think The time spent in sunshine things were good for a while Had a chance to work things out, to find the missing link With nothing to worry about i had a reason to smile If it weren't for that time i would need a shrik Someone to rescue the pieces from the pile I wish people weren't blind of a world they look down on. So busy looking after number 1 they forget about those that have come undone. What about all the fathers and the mothers that fight in a world you all try to cover. Still no one stops to think at all...it could easily be me. Now i know what i want I know what i want to do No one should go through What i went through There has to be a way Something i can do Someway, somehow To stop it happening To you In death my mum taught me a lesson You got to be nosy you got to pay attention So i started taking sessions To be a way of prevention To start on a mission The vagrant't current convention I know for certian It's a brilliant invention I wish people weren't blind of a world they look down on. So busy looking after number 1 they forget about those that have come undone. What about all the fathers and the mothers that fight in a world you all try to cover. Still no one stops to think at all...it could easily be me. No one stops to think at all...it could easily be me. No one stops to think at all...it could easily be me. No one stops to think at all...it could easily be me.
  21. Actually. I think you will find. The best selling albums of the last 60 years are not the albums that have been hyped out of all proportion. For instance. You will be interested to know that rnb superstar Usher's "confessions" is not the highest selling album from the noughtys. This album is actually 8 in that particualr list. Crappy boyband Nsync get closer by being 6 with something like 8.7 million sales... And talking of hype. Coldplay are not even in the list.
  22. Im not gonna post it until people start guessing.
