  1. I Completely agree!!!!! Love this song. All Coldplay fans should get Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake too! :-D
  2. Where to buy Hi, I bought the early singles as they came out at Virgin Mega store on Sunset in LA and at Tower Records on Sunset. Also when they get them, Amoeba is good. I've always bought the Coldplay singles within a couple of weeks from when they were released, so I've never had a hard time finding them. I was simply lucky enough to hear an advanced copy of Parachutes before it was released, and went out and bought Shiver, then Yellow and Trouble etc as they all came out. The BEST place to gaurantee getting the singles is: IdealCopy.com They're a bit pricey, but they always have the new singles right away, and the guys who run the store are really cool and look out for fans. Also, I noticed some people were saying things like "My collection is not so impressive..." Well, it's your collection, and since you like it and have been collecting the things in it, it's really cool. I'm sure that no matter what size collection any of us has, there is that one piece in the collection that you love and that has a cool story behind it... and that one is the only one that really matters in any collection. :-D
  3. Ah, what a bloody shame! It's too bad there's no new single, as I'm sure we would all run out and buy it! White Shadows isn't the most radio friendly song on the album though... brilliant song, but not a "top of the pops" single. Square One has much more radio/chart potential, but honestly, if they want a #1 hit single, they ought to release 'Til Kingdom Come and the b-sides could be the live Johnny Cash tribute medley thingy they play. Absolutely brilliant! 'Til Kingdom Come has, by far, the greatest cross-market appeal and would be such a huge single, I can't understand why they didn't release that... except that perhaps they have this weird "integrity" thing and didn't want to cash in on Cash's death.
  4. I'm sure Hi! Yeah, this is a REAL CD. You can always tell a CD-R from a real CD by checking the bottom playing surface. CD-Rs have a tint to them and no bar-code type thing around the inner hole. I think there must have been a small run of these, and then a bunch of people have been making copies of them and selling them. Personally, I would never pay good money for a CD-R, as they don't last, and they are incredibly cheap to make, so people ought to sell them for cheap! :-D
  5. I've got: Blue Room Shiver Yellow Parachutes Trouble Trouble (Scandi live EP) Don't Panic MINCE SPIES!!!!!!! :) (My piece d'resistance!) In My Place Rush Of Blood TO the Head Clocks Clocks (Scandi 3X live) Clocks 12" remixes Clocks white label different remix God Put A Smile Upon Your Face Speed Of Sound X&Y X&Y (japanese) Fix You Talk Talk (Scandi 3X live) Talk remixes Hardest Part What If And I've got a bunch of other stuff that has Coldplay appear on it. :) Love this band... they always have quality b-sides!!
  6. Scientist title Hi! I always thought that the reason that song is called the Scientist is because it's about a person who is trying to look at an emotional situation and deconstruct it and make sense out of it like one would with an experiment. Ultimately it's an unsatisfactory way to look at love, life etc.
  7. I got mine off e-bay. It's a real CD, not a CD-R, which is good because the CD-Rs tend to degenerate after a couple of years. Here's a current ebay sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/COLDPLAY-A-RUSH-OF-B-SIDES-TO-YOUR-HEAD-RARITIES-CD_W0QQitemZ330018006640QQihZ014QQcategoryZ307QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I don't know who this seller is, but this is like what I bought.
  8. B-Sides & Rarities! I think that the best way to do a b-sides collection (really, it's not an album) is to be completely exhaustive. I think they ought to wait awhile, and after they've done another album or two, release a box set. The Cure's Join The Dots is a phenomenal example of this. It's got every b-side, all the remixes and one-offs that appeared on comps or in magazines. They should trash any live versions of songs that appear on proper albums (but songs like Lips like Sugar & Mooie Ellabogen could be on there), and also any crappy edits or radio versions of songs, because really, who cares? If I want to hear Yellow or The Scientist, I want to hear it in all it's glory, not some cut down hacked job. And they should include ALL the cool stuff, like the Clocks remixes (but only one version of each remix, we don't need the instrumental version or any remix that's a daft close-to-the-original uninspired turd) and especially the Alpha Remix of Yellow, as that's the greatest! And the track listing ought to be in chronological order, so you can follow their progression! That's how I feel anyway :)
  9. Ah, b-sides I hope Coldplay put out some proper b-sides and not more live tracks. The only time live tracks are worth the trouble of a b-side is if they are signifigantly different from the studio version, is a song that is unavailable in another format, or if you put out a whole show. One or two live tracks as b-sides are usually lame attemps by the record company to cash in without having to do any work. Coldplay has got phenomenal b-sides, and we know they have tons on songs that haven't been properly released... these are the songs that we should be getting on singles, not some live cut of Yellow for the millionth time!
  10. UK has stupid rules The UK is very annoying when it comes to singles. If a band wants to put out a single with multiple b-sides, they have to release 2 versions of it because of that stupid rule about a single not being longer than 20 minutes or having more than 2 b-sides. What a bunch of bollucks. It's crap! That being said, I think EPs are the most underated form of music!! People should release more EPs! That being said (do you see a pattern here?!) Coldplay had better not rip off their fans and release an EP of all live stuff that we all already have. I hope this new EP doesn't have any of the live tracks that are on the Talk 3-disc set, and certainly we don't need another live version of Yellow (or any of the singles for that matter). I hope they include at least one cover song from the live shows. That's how I feel anyway. :)
  11. IdealCopy.com is a great place to find a lot of singles and rare import stuff. The staff is really cool there too! I just bought the 3 Netherlands "Talk" singles with all the live b-sides from them.
  12. I don't really like this song either, the way Embrace do it :snore: . I think it's the weakest track on the Embrace album, perhaps because they didn't write it? Coldplay's live version is much better, but still it's at the very bottom of my list of Coldplay songs. That being said, it's still Coldplay, and I still like it :D
  13. It's a pretty rotten game these record companies play. Essentially it's a game of "how can we fuck the fans?" Everyone knows that true fans are the only ones who are going to go out of their way to get these songs, but at the same time no effort is made to make these songs readily available to true fans, let alone casual fans. And then record companies wonder why people steal music. If it was bloody well available at a reasonable price, nobody'd steal it. Stupid, greedy bastards. I think Ian McKay of Fugazi/Minor Threat said it best when he said, "everyone is asking the wrong question. Everyone is asking: 'Can the major record companies be saved?' but the real question should be: 'do they deserve to be saved.'"
  14. So, the Dutch release is available on ebay, but for $33 + $7 shipping ($40)! Does anyone know where I can buy these at a "real" record store in LA? Amoeba doesn't really get all of the singles...
  15. OK, so here's what they post on the website for the new single (and I think these singles will be with the WHITE artwork): 'Talk' single track listings: CD 1. Talk 2. Sleeping Sun DVD 1. Talk 2. Gravity 3. Speed of Sound (video) directed by Mark Romanek 4. Talk (video) directed by Anton Corbijn 5. Behind the scenes footage from ‘Talk’ video shoot 7" A. Talk B. Gravity But then there are other releases that don't get mentioned: The Dutch 3 CD set: CD 1 (Orange Digi pack that holds all 3 CDs) 1. Talk (Radio Edit) 2. Swallowed In The Sea (Live @ Gelredome, 2005)) 3. God Put A Smile Upon My Face (Live @ Gelredome, 2005) CD 2 (White paper sleave) 1. Talk (Album Version) 2. Square One (Live @ Gelredome, 2005) 3. Clocks (Live @ Gelredome, 2005) CD 3 (Blue paper sleave) 1. Talk (Live @ Gelredome, 2005) 2. Til Kingdom Come (Live @ Gelredome, 2005) 3. Fix You (Live @ Gelredome, 2005) This Dutch release is just like the limited dutch release of Clocks, but without any cool unreleased tracks
  16. oh, by the way... do you have the Dry Your Eyes version with Chris Martin!?
  17. There's also the two songs he sings backup on with Ian McCulloch... I think the songs are Sliding & Arthur. Cheers, Spencer
  18. Hi! Most Japanese versions of albums have bonus tracks. Usually the Japanese bonus track is the b-side from the first single. Sometimes it is the b-side from a later single. There have been only a few instances that I know of where the Japanese bonus track is not available elsewhere, but these instances are what make the Japanese editions sought after (for me anyway). How You See the World will probably show up as a b-side of the 4th single (if that's the case, I have a like-new CD of the Blue Japanese version of X&Y that will be available ;) ). If anyone buys the white version, please let us know what the bonus track is! If I find it in a store I will buy it and let you all know. I have a feeling that if it's not HYSTW, then it's another b-side. I think that the guy on ebay is trying to rip us off, and that he knows it's a track that everyone has and that's why he's not posting the name of the song (I emailed him and asked about the song and he was very evasive).
  19. Anyone? Does anyone know about the japanese bonus track on the white version of X&Y?
  20. Hi Chris! I'm brand spanking new too... this seems like a cool place for Coldplay fans to gather... :stunned:
  21. I'm listening to the Bardots, "Sad Anne." They're a shoegazing group with the brother of Pete Fijalkowski who was in Adorable & Polak... two other great bands that everyone should check out! :idea2:
  22. hi! Does anyone know about the OTHER japanese bonus track? i don't even know what it's called, but allegedly there is a bonus track on the white version of X&Y that is NOT "How You See The World." Anyone know about this? Thanks!!!! :D
