  8. If I were crazier, I'd suggest it's the government teaching kids at an early age to be submissive to authority in all situations. But that's just crazy, right? A government would never do that. :dozey:

  11. The important thing to know is that in the US, small schools are almost becoming a rare thing. The larger the school, the more students (duh), and the less individual treatment. Less individualism. It becomes more of a prison than a school simply because they really cannot handle individuals. And you know what happens when you overcrowd kids anyway, and hand them to (certain) teachers who have no idea how to handle children and don't want to. Oh, and add all of that to the fact that it's damn near a sin to actually punish a child anymore, or correct his or her wrongdoing in any way. Nobody even knows how to handle bullying anymore. I'm a testament to that. The schools here are the prisons, and after my experience, and my brother's experience, it will be a cold day in Hell before my kids go to public school. One police officer in a high school, I can understand. We had one, and when one kid totally flipped his shit, we were lucky to. But entire flocks of officers in middle schools? Middle school is shitty enough. We were punished for having our backpack straps hanging out of our lockers or going to the bathroom during hall change without permission. We couldn't wear shirts with skulls on them. They treated us like criminals already. I can't imagine having cops thrown in. The school system is a total failure. It has become about punishing kids who can maintain good grades without showing up and not teaching kids real information. The schools only teach students enough to pass standardized tests. The federal funding now comes from high standardized test scores and attendance. Oh, and schools can be punished for not having enough working computers, regardless of whether or not they can afford them. There are few very intelligent teachers in the school system anymore. It's been opened up as this occupation that ~anyone~ can do, but it's really not. If you don't like kids, if you can't even read, don't fucking do it. My dad taught me how to read and write. Meanwhile, in school, I couldn't get proper help in mathematics. So now I'm a vegetable. a;al;awejnd, nfweoi
