  1. Prolly my me and my buddies favorite Coldplay song. Got a chance to add some keys to it and wow, can't believe it turned out pretty good. He didn't know Coldplay til I turned him onto them, so let me know if you want to him to sing some more!...cause i always like to play some Coldplay :D...and he's heard most songs from me. Thanks for listneing! http://artists.ultimate-guitar.com/rickademusmcfadden/
  2. I would recommend a Takamine or Yamaha acoustic. You can find some inexpensive models that are still good quality compared to some brands. But play before you buy! That way you find one that's not hard to push down or feels akward which will frustrate you. Good luck!
  3. In my opinion the capo version sounds better. In the chorus, pull off your bird finger on the C chord, and use your pinky on the D to make the sounds jonny does while your strumming (listen for timing). Tabs are relative to capo. Sounds good without capo too. Chorus: C, G, D x 3 then C, D C: e|-----0--------0-----| B|-----1--------1-----| G|-----0--------0-----| D|-----2-p-0----------| A|-----3---------------| E|----------------------| D: (it's like a roll off to the C) e|---2-----------3-p-2-p-0-------| B|---3-----------3-----------3----| G|---2---then---2-----------------| D|---0-----------0-----------------| A|----------------------------------| E|----------------------------------| On the final "D" in the chorus: E|------------2----| B|------3----------| G|---------2-------| D|---0-------------| A|-----------------| E|-----------------|
  4. In My Place is number one. But if i had to choose a top 5, i just couldn't do it.
  5. Chris also plays a Takamine EAN10C and i've seen him use a Takamine Santa Fe style model. Martin and Gibson were mentioned already.
  6. My '72 Fender Telecaster Thinline Re-Issue  Group shot of my main guitars: Alvarez RD8C Acoustic/Electric Tele Thinline Seagull MJM6 Acoustic Electric Epiphone Les Paul ....and an unknown guitar i'm piecing together. I also have a Casio Keyboard, A Dean Acoustic, a Roland Cube 60 amp, A Digitech RP80 (i think) pedal, and some recording stuff. Nice equipment everybody!!
  7. Meh, just playing the solo part isn't that fun. Here's how I play it while incorporating the solo with the chords. Standard Tuning - Capo 3 intro and verses: C, Em, Am7, C/G Chorus: (sorry, won't space right for me) F Em G Gsus4 G Lights will gu --- ---ide you home Instrumental: Same as intro, but hit bass notes C,B,A,G. Don't strum the chords, you have to pick them. Just whatever sounds right. Last part: "Tears stream...." C, F, C, C/G You can hammer your pinky on the C and F chord on the 3rd fret on the high e string to simulate the high note of the "solo". Just have to time it right. Fast strokes on the chord will make it sound like the solo. Chords: c - x32010 F - 133211 G - 320001 Gsus4 - 330001 c/G - 320013 Em - 022000 Am7 - x02010
  8. Did your guitar have a lack of sustain before? What kind of amp? Are you running the pedals straight into the amp or are you using an Effects loop? It is very annoying whenever sustain dies out prematurely. One of my little pet peeves on a guitar.
  9. I'm pretty sure they are the same chords as the verses, but an octave or two higher. I believe a C7 and Fm.......that's how I play it on my guitar.
  10. I dig it, but I've only played it for a short time. I just don't care for the thin neck and round radius of Thinline....though I think most Fenders have a similar profile *shrugs*. It sounded and looked great, but I love F-holes and the Tele shape. I ended up with a Carvin semi-hollow. You should be able to find one at a decent price. Definitely try one out first.:guitarist:
  11. Good luck to you as well!
  12. Cool guitar! I retract my statement about you not having a real one. Also, Carvin is not as big, because they do not sell to stores. You have to get them direct. If they did, the price tag would be even higher because the store selling them would have to make a profit. Also, you are not limited on the guitar...you build it how you want. Carvin has been around a long time. Fender and Gibson are great guitars no doubt. They are just a household name, and they use that to an advantage so sell *some* of their guitars higher than what they should. I guarantee that my guitar is built better than most Fenders. Better hardware, and better wood. As for the sound, nothing sounds like a fender....and that can be a good thing, OR a bad thing. Also, I like the sound of the Thinline, just the neck was to thin, and the radius of the fretboard is too round.....Like a lot of Fenders.
  13. I've had piano lessons when I was younger, but I got a keyboard two christmas's ago. Nothing special, but works okay for my small recording setup. I can play clocks and trouble a little bit, but I mostly transcribe guitar to the keyboard and vice versa. I would probaby be a much better if I actually sat down and tried. I'm working on a Pink Floyd cover and I'ver brought out the keys tonight to play the chords, and the little chorus fill in Comfortably Numb. Cheers to the Pianist in here!
  14. hahaha.....pile of junk? Hate to break it to you man, but this guitar was custom made in the USA to my specs and *almost* cost double than what a fender thinline cost. Plus, I did not say it sounded better, I said it plays better! Read my post again. I refrained myself from saying stuff before when this thread was more active, but you really you need to pull your head out of your a$$. I didn't know it could fit up there since your head is so big with your guitar and coldplay knowledge...oh great one. Do you even know who Carvin is? Also, how do you even know it's shitty if you never heard of it? As you mentioned, there are always better guitars out there! And you don't have a REAL thinline. They stopped making those, and put out a Re-Issue with different pickups than the originals. I do not down people in posts, but you sir, are a douchebag. To those who aren't  , and enjoy playing whatever kind of guitar you have. Here's carvin's site, if you want to look at their current line of guitars. http://www.carvin.com
  15. I made a post on the first page about getting a thinline tele. Well, i did, but it's not a real thinline. I need to tinker with it more to see if it can fully achieve a coldplay sound, but I think it plays better than a real Fender Thinline. What do you guys think? It's a Carvin from the custom shop. Edit - I forgot to mention, that with the acoustic bridge/electonics on it, I can go from johnny's electric parts to Chris' acoustic parts with the roll of a knob
