Aha, i see now. Well it's really good, it's like that there. I thought every community has these issues among them, coz we have it here in Jordan, but as i said before, it's not exactly like in the movie. All the scenes you mentioned are part of the story, Iris. i mean, that the movie wouldn't have been the same without them, and i believe that the police officer did that coz he had a sick mind, there are actually real people like that, honestl i didn't like that secne a lot either but it's a big part of the movie, especially when you see how the officer's charecter progresses and at then end, when he got to save thw women from the crash, i loved that scene, it's such a powerful one imo. And the officer sort of redeemed himself in it, and learned smth! see now this is one of the things i loved about the movie! And her husband didnt do much, to help her out, he just didn't know what to do, whether to get himself in jail by reacting to it or just let it happen because he didn't want much trouble. see this scene also in particular shows how he had been a very hard situation to decide in, and i think he's mind just blocked during that scene, but he also after what happend couldn't forgive himself for what he did, and thats also very real and part of what each human being goes through in his/her life. and another thing, Iris. i just dont get, why you have to imagine yourself in there shoes in order to understand it, you can't do that all the time.. with each movie, it's not even possible. Well imo The Departed, Little Miss Sunshine & Babel (which i haven't see yet coz it hasn't been released here yet, but i know when a movie is great or not even before wathcing it) are the greatest movies this year. But i'm sure The Departed is gonna get some credit for it's brilliance.. :smug:, and even moer than Babel, it's just a little feeling i have! However from the movies that i haven't seen, but i have a feeling that the Academy will get soem noms for them are perhaps, Bobby, All The Kings Men.. and several others that i forgot about, .. oh well the noms are coming out in jan 23rd .. so we'll have to wait for then to see. :D

^ dont you think it's a bit too much :rolleyes: there are OTHER great movies this year, Miro, and it won't be fair that way!

Well, luckly for you Iris, thats the case, that you couldn't relate to it and you don't have such intolerance there.. but to be honest me liking the film, or thinking it's very important doesn't come from the fact that i did actually relate to it, nor that here in Jordan, we have that sort of racism and to that extent like in the US! but the diffirence between me and you, is that i could understand these charecters and why they did the things they did.. and not just me, my friend who watched it with me, ..said it's one of her top fav movies ever, it's a really really good movie, apart from the plot and story, also the way it was done and written. oh well i just wanted to share my point on this, :) Btw i didn't mention that i had actually seen BM.. and i'm not sure what to say about it, coz it was pretty odd for me to watch such a movie, and also before i watched it i TOTALY expected something different, meaning i had a different idea of how the movie would turn out to be coz of all the buzz that i had seen over it. And the reason, i wasn't very fond of it and not thinking that it desereved an Oscar, isn't because i have anything against gay people or anything like that, it's just that i thought of it as a bit ewwish, lol, .. i dont know i just did!

hate to intrude, :D but i couldn't help to see what you guys have been talking about! @Iris - umm conserning BM, i'm so glad it didn't win best movie award last year, Crash so much deserved that award than BM, i'd like to add also that the fact Crash had won made me appreciat the Academy a lot more, coz after BM's release everyone was talking about it and didn't expcet that Crash will have any chance of winning at all, but it all truned for the best, imo! coz Crash is like a very important movie to be watched and it concerns the world we are living in, and the issue of racism, so the win made more people realise it and opened there eyes more for the issue. :) @Miro - the noms haven't been released yet, but that will be in jan 23rd. oh can't wait, truely. also the GG ceremony is on tuesday! yay! :D
