What's up with chris's voice??
I thought it might be nerves or new songs too, but then I heard Clocks on the Today Show this morning. Yeah, sounded horrible. Something's up........

Coldplay on The Daily Show--June 25
Gah, the Brixton show sounded HORRIBLE to me. I couldn't even stand to make it all the way through "Strawberry Swing" and some of the others.....all off key...off beat......*sigh*

Coldplay on The Daily Show--June 25
Wow, those performances were surprising smooth and well done (unlike ANY of their live shows so far.) I'm not quite convinced though :P I'm hopefully looking forward to more live performances like these. Good job guys!

Brian Eno: 'Without me, Coldplay would be been zonked out'

I don't want to hear Fix You, Yellow, Trouble in concert anymore
I agree with you about Yellow and Fix You, but I think Trouble and Clocks sounds fine. ESPECIALLY Clocks...I think they still have a lot of soul left in that one.

The Official Opinions about the new album thread
Yeah, a lot of you need to chill. I just tried to state my opinions in a very kind manner to start a discussion......I DO realize that they are simply my opinions, and not the way things are ;)

The Official Opinions about the new album thread
I never said the new album was "rubbish." In my first post I clearly state: "Don't get me wrong, I bought the new album, and am enjoying it...but NOTHING like I did the other three." I still enjoy the new album, just not like their previous three.

The Official Opinions about the new album thread
No, I just look at the list of top songs in the nation, and see artists like Jonas Broters, Rihanna, Pussycat Dolls, Miley Cyrus, etc. That's what I was talking about when I said "MOST of the world has trashy taste in music." And as for the second comment, all I was saying is that I'm not gonna judge music as good or bad dependent on whether it's popular or not.
-
The Official Opinions about the new album thread
Ah ok, I see what you're saying. And yes, this album is a HUGE let down to me. And it doesn't matter how many albums are sold or how popular music gets. Most of the world has trashy taste in music anyway. If you make crappy music and get in the top ten.....have fun with that :P ....but if you make good music and sell a couple albums or play a few shows, or even just play for your friends.......now that's awesome:cool:

The Official Opinions about the new album thread
so basically you think they've gone from artsy...to rockin....(opposite of what I said). I don't understand that though. Stuff in their old days is MUCH more "rock." Example: No More Keeping my Feet on the Ground vs Viva La Vida Shiver vs Lovers in Japan Bigger Stronger vs 42 Stuff in their old days is much more rock. You could take a guitar, bass, drums, maybe a piano, and play them! Now it's all a bunch of prerecorded tracks and crap...

The Official Opinions about the new album thread
My thoughts on the new album (go easy) Now this is just my opinion, so don't shoot me or anything... To put this VERY brief, I'll just say these things: - I wish Chris would get back to playing his guitar and definitely his piano (like in the "old days") and quit with all the gay-ish dancing. And it's not even really dancing. It's just a bunch of random crap. - I'm ready for Guy to get back to REALLY playing his bass............just like in the "old days." - I'm ready for Jonny to get back to guitar parts that consist of more than 3 notes.........played at only tiny selected parts of their songs....gah. - I'm ready for Coldplay to quit trying to be so "artsy" and get back to rockin......just like in the old days. I just think there new music isn't very good. Just too "artsy" which in reality, is really very shallow (at least to me). Don't get me wrong, I bought the new album, and am enjoying it...but NOTHING like I did the other three.

Who is the star of the album?
................................................amen :) *sigh* maybe someday I'll be able to speak my thoughts in the proper manner like that :P

Who is the star of the album?
what makes a COMPLICATED bassline? well obviously...lots of notes perhaps.....perhaps some awkward timing......played fast maybe....... I'm not talking about complication here :P And less...less than mediocre doesn't mean shit>_> Here's an example of a shit bass player: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/98/Pete_Wentz_TyLiner.jpg
-
Who is the star of the album?
About that first statement....I disagree :P And btw, I never said he was a shit bass player, not even close.
-
Who is the star of the album?
Violet Hill: Playing the root note with the beat of the dream over and over (with a few small fillers every now and then). enl: absolutely guy's BEST bassline in my opinion, it's simple, but it's catchy. Fun to just sit back, relax, and play. White Shadows: Playing the same two notes over and over..ugh
-
Who is the star of the album?
The basslines in X&Y and Speed of Sound are him just playing the root notes with tiny "fillers" in between the changes :P lol, I'm not trying to piss anybody off, just trying to have a constructive conversation. Don't get me wrong, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE COLDPLAY! But I'm mostly a fan because of their songwriting abilities, not their musicianship. And as for the "bassline" in Strawberry Swing, it's a perfect example of what I was talking about above. It's hardly even audible. You could just use a keyboard/workstation and get the same sound for that song.
-
Who is the star of the album?
Well, I DO believe he is a "good" bass player, but the basslines he writes and plays with Coldplay's songs aren't any more special than the "basslines" put into most of today's mainstream music. I'm not trying to really diss him or anything, in fact he's the bassist who inspired me to become one. But I DON'T think he is anything "amazing" as mentioned above. Most of his basslines consist of him striking the root note of the current chord...over....and then again...and then again (there are exceptions of course). I just wish he'd get a little more creative. I do realize though that most people out their listening to music don't even pay attention to basslines when listening to music. Most of them just enjoy hearing the root note repetitively, and would probably prefer it that way.........which is sad....*sigh*......
-
Who is the star of the album?
I seriously hope you're kidding?!?! If not, then what makes him so great. His basslines aren't even mediocre....
-
Who is the star of the album?
r u serious? I love Guy, but I've gotta say among bass players...he's nothing special at all. Same goes for Will on drums and Jonny on guitar. I think coldplay's strengths are their songwriting abilities and Chris's voice, not their musicianship.
