Bright Eyes - Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh the phone slipped from a loose grip the words were missed then, some apology I didn’t want to tell you this it’s just some guy she's been hanging out with oh, I don’t know, the past couple of weeks I guess thank you and hang up the phone let the funeral start, hear the casket close let’s pin split-black ribbon onto your overcoat laughter pours from under doors in this house I can’t understand that sound no more seems artificial, like a tv set haligh, haligh, haligh, haligh this weight it must be satisfied you offer only one reply, you know not what you do but you tear and tear your hair from roots of that same head you have twice removed a lock of hair you swore would prove our love would never die well, ha ha ha! I remember everything the words we spoke on freezing south street all those morning watching you get ready for school you combed your hair inside the mirror the one you painted blue and glued with jewelry something 'bout those bright colours always made you feel better now we speak with ruined tongues and the words I screamed weren’t meant for anyone it’s just a mumbled sentence to a passing acquaintance but there was once you you said you hate my suffering that you understood it and you’d take care of me you'd always be there, well where are you now haligh, haligh, haligh, haligh the plans were never finalized but left to hang like yarn and twine dangling before my eyes as you tear and tear your hair from roots of that same head you have twice removed a lock of hair you swore would prove our love would never die as I sing and sing of awful things the pleasure that my sadness brings as my fingers touch these shining strings yet another clumsy chord haligh, haligh, an awful lie this weight will now be satisfied I'm gonna give you only one reply, I know not who I am so I talk in the mirror to the stranger that appears our conversations are circles always one-sided, nothing is clear except we keep comin' back to a meaning that I lack he says the choices were given now you must live them or just not live do you want that?* *At the show I went to in April he changed that line to "but we can't have that". Maybe he won't off himself after all.

Not depressing enough for my taste. Townes Van Zandt, though, that's wrist-slashing music. But I'm stickin' by my favourite sad bastard... Bright Eyes - The Vanishing Act were you surprised that we never spoke then in the still of the night when nothing stirs I woke and I gathered up some clothes I never planned on this but it's the way it goes and now it all seems too familiar like pages turned on calendars we get the same twelve months to fuck things up year after year and I can't believe how down I am like a well I'm being lowered in that water stops, that bucket drops us farther and farther down farther and farther down farther and farther down well I guess that you never knew me or at least not well enough so I fill my gut with that dark red wine til my brain shuts off and my eyes go blind you won't see me there in that thick black air yeah I'll finally make something disappear I've been practicin' disappearing and I think that I got it down now there is no sun just a cellar nowhere is sky just that black, black dirt yeah, now there is no sun it's just a cellar nowhere is sky just that black, black, black, black dirt expanding outwards, just echoes for answers not that it matters if it's back or it's forwards unhappy lovers with baskets of flowers use them as markers the place where your bed once stood a time when it still felt good but you'll get that feeling back yeah, you just need sometime to think and to add up the hell get it straight in your mind but to calculate cost that may take some time but I'm sure you'll get to feelin' better yeah I just need some time to drink so I fill my gut with that blood-red wine til my insides swim and my veins unwind I'll be lying there in that hot white air once that something's gone it might never reappear it might never reappear it might never reappear it might never reappear

When I went to see Bright Eyes, I shouted a request: "Play a sad song!" :blank: Yeah, well, I thought it was funny. Okay, Dave Matthews is also a sad bastard, but he tries to be happy... Pig Oh isn’t it strange How we move our lives for another day Like skipping a beat What if a great wave should wash us all away Just thinking out loud Don’t mean to dwell on this dying thing But looking at blood It’s alive right now Deep and sweet within Pouring through our veins Intoxicate moving wine to tears And drinking it deep Then an evening spent dancing It’s you and me Oh ah this love will open our world From the dark side we can see the glow of something bright Oh there’s much more than we see here Don’t burn the day away Don’t burn the day Don’t burn the day away Is this not enough This blessed sip of life Is it not enough Staring down at the ground Oh then complain and pray for more from above You greedy little pig Stop just watch your world trickle away Oh it’s your problem now It’ll all be dead and gone in a few short years Oh just love will open our eyes Just love will put the hope back in our minds Much more than we could ever know Oh so don’t burn the day away Don’t burn the day Don’t burn the day away Aw come sister My brother Shake up your bones shake up your feet I’m saying open up And let the rain come pouring in Wash out this tired notion Oh that the best is yet to come But while you’re dancing on the ground Don’t think of when you’re gone Love! love!--what more is there? We need the light of love in here Don’t beat your head Dry your eyes Let the love in there There’s bad times But that’s ok Just look for love in it And don’t burn the day away Don’t burn the day Don’t burn the day away Look Here are we On this starry night staring into space And I must say I feel as small as dust Lying down here What point could there be troubling Head down wondering what will become of me Why concern we cannot see But no reason to abandon it Time is short, time that’s all right Maybe I’ll go out in the middle of the night Take your hands from your eyes, my love All good things must come to an end sometime Ah but don’t burn the day away Don’t burn the day Don’t burn the day away Aw come sister My brother Shake up your bones shake up your feet I’m saying open up And let the rain come flooding in Wash out this tired notion Oh that the best is yet to come But oh while you’re dancing on the ground Don’t think of when you’re gone Love! love!--what more is there? Cos we need the light of love in here Don’t beat your head Dry your eyes Let the love in there There’re bad times Well that’s ok Oh just look for love in it Yeah-eah Just let the love in there Oh love Right now...

Conor Oberst's just a little ray of sunshine, isn't he? Here's another... Bright Eyes - The Joy in Forgetting/The Joy in Acceptance there's a cat in the window of the house of my lover well she sleeps there alone now or perhaps with another I try not to think about that I try not to think at all I get cocaine from this girl I met and my brother buys me alcohol and I stay up all night walking through these houses I have grown to hate and my parents ask if I'm all right I say I've just been staying up too late I need to sleep I need to do something to get this awful weight up off my chest and keep her pretty ghost from chasing me from chasing me... you say there are spaces open and wide you say there are days longer than nights and I could be happy if only I'd try but I don't try, I don't try and you speak of a fever that burns you inside as you explain to your mother how you have wanted to die so she kisses your fingers and says my darling but why when there is so much more there is so much more do you know there are spaces open and wide believe me there are days longer than nights and you will be happy the minute you try so won't you try won't you try

Sad bastard songs, is it then? Well, this one made a friend say he wanted to hang himself. Dunno why... Bright Eyes - The Calendar Hung Itself does he kiss your eyelids in the morning when you start to raise your head and does he sing to you incessantly from the place between your bed and wall does he walk around all day at school with his feet inside your shoes looking down every few steps to pretend he walks with you does he know that place below your neck that is your favorite to be touched and does he cry through broken sentences like I love you far too much does he lay awake listening to your breath worried you smoke too many cigarettes is he lying now on a bathroom floor for every speck of tile there's a thousand more I won’t ever see but most hold inside myself eternally I drug your ghost across the country and we plotted out my death in every city memories would whisper here is where you rest I was determined in chicago but I dug my teeth into my knees and I settled for a telephone, I sang into your machine you are my sunshine, my only sunshine you are my sunshine, my only sunshine well I kissed a girl with a broken jaw that her father gave to her she had eyes bright enough to burn me they reminded me of yours and in a story told, she was a little girl in a red-rouge, sun-bruised field and there were rows of ripe tomatoes where a secret was concealed but it rose like thunder, clapped under our hands and it stretched for centuries to a diary entry’s end, where I wrote, where I write you make me happy like when skies are grey you make me happy like when skies are grey and grey and grey well the clock’s heart it hangs inside its open chest with its hands stretched towards the calendar hanging itself but I would not weep for those dying days for all the ones who have left there's a few that stayed, they found me here and they pulled me from the grass, where I was laid
  7. Caffeine + Babbling = Good times :D Baboon  Oy. I need a cuppa coffee...
  8. Randall had all the best lines! *hums Here Comes the Sun* Not sleeping makes me loopy. :goofy: I missed that feeling. :rolleyes4:
  9. Sanity is overrated. :dozey: It's after 4:00am in Californ-i-a. I've been up since 8:30am. *Adopts whine like Brian O'Halloran (Dante) in Clerks* "I'm fuckin' tired..." But my bed is too... far... away... :snore: :o :stunned: I'm awake! :sleeping2: It's long past time I went to sleep. And not at the computer. Ah, methinks I've royally screwed-up the sleeping pattern I tried so hard to keep. It worked for two whole weeks. Oh well, me and 10am never agreed anyway, and I missed the sunrises. Looks like it's back to my coffee and sleep-deprivation routine. Insomnia, my old friend... Okay, sorry for being nonsensical, I'm leaving before I start hallucinating and/or make an even bigger fool of myself. :vanish:
  10. The Vines - I'm Only Sleeping (Beatles cover) "Please don't wake me, no don't shake me, leave me where I am. I'm only sleeping...." ... :snore: ... :sleeping2:
  11. Wilco - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? I'm not sure whether to  or
  12. :singer: "I never liked those other guys anyway. They were just holding me back, man."
  13. Actually, it's just the lead singer who does Smoke on the Water. A capella.

Did y'all run out of song lyrics to post? Even the Muse fanatics? :stunned: Well, I feel the need to post some Dave Matthews lyrics seeing as how he's in LA this weekend and I can't go  I still love you Dave! :bigcry: Spoon Spoon in spoon Stirring my coffee I thought of you And turned to the gate And on my way came up with the answers I scratched my head And the answers were gone From hand to hand Wrist to the elbow Red blood sand Could Dad be God Crosses cross hung out like a wet rag Forgive you? Why? You hung me out to dry Maybe I’m crazy But laughing out loud Make the pain pass by And maybe you’re a little crazy But laughing out loud make it all subside Holding, I’m holding I’m still falling I’m still falling Spoon in spoon Stirring my coffee I thought of this And turned to the gate And on my way Crack Lightning and thunder I hid my head And the storm slipped away Well maybe I’m crazy But laughing out loud Make it all pass by And maybe you’re a little crazy And laughing out loud Make it all alright Laughing out loud From time to time Minutes and hours Some move ahead while Some lag behind It’s like the balloon that Rise and then vanish This drop of hope That falls from his eyes Spoon in spoon Stirring my coffee I think of this And turn to go away But as I walk There are voices behind me saying Sinners sin Come now and play Laughing out loud Come now and play
  15. Audiences are absolutely raving. And they think the play is wonderful too. ;) I found a band to do the soundtrack for the movie version: :drummer: :singer: :guitarist:
