If you want ones that inspired me while writing 'Slashed', then its mostly Japanese and Korean horror that its based on. There is an obvious nod to the Ring cycle with the supernatural killer. I would say my biggest influence back then was Park Chan Wook who is one ofr the most imaginative director/writers in Korea. I really recommend all of Park's films but specifically 'Oldboy' and 'Im a cyborg but thats okay'. The latter one is about a girl who thinks she is a robot and goes into a mental institution. Then she plans to break out with all the crazies in there. Absolutely superb. I think the films that are the biggest influence on me are: 'Night of the Comet' - Zombie film set in LA in the 80s. Two cheerleaders have to save the world. Need I say more? 'The Breakfast Club' - the best film ever made. John Hughes is without peer. 'Amelie' - obviously 'Martyrs' - French horror masterpiece. Probably the best horror film I've ever seen. So gory, but so damn beautiful. 'Inside' - Another French Horror about a woman trying to protect her unborn baby from a killer. 'The Lost Boys' - Best vampire movie ever. Twilight doesnt even compare. 'Army of Darkness' - Before Sam Raimi went Spidy on us. 'Susperia' - Argento is the master (and he has a hot daughter). Also I need to point out that Shaun of The Dead is awful. People like it because they dont know any better. It directly rips off lots of films and barely has an original line it. Anyone who truly appreciates zombie films can not admit to liking that pile. Zombieland on the other hand does the tongue-in-cheek zombie film perfectly. Even though its really commercial its pretty spot on. There are a million other good films out there but thats all i can think of right now! but yeah.. 'martyrs' and 'im a cyborg' are my big picks! Ford Cortina - Night A thunder clap is heard as rain bashes the already torn bonnet and flashes of lightning reveal Chris and Jonny in the back seat of the car. Int. Car Interior - Night Jonny Knock Knock Chris Ssshhh... Can you hear that? Jonny Hear what? Chris The rain. Its speaking to me. Jonny Whatever. Knock Knock. Chris Isn't it beautiful how something can be tangible yet intangible at the same time? Like a vivid dream... Jonny I said Knock Knock! Chris I heard you. I'm just not answering the door. Chris mimes looking through a letterbox and closing it again. Jonny shakes his head. Jonny Whats wrong with you? I'm just trying to lighten the mood. Chris Is that what you are doing? I thought you were trying to interfere with my karma. Jonny Karma? We are stuck in the middle of who-the-fuck-knows with no phone reception; 50 miles from the nearest petrol station and we are about to get struck by lightning. The figure drags an axe behind it, splintered, bloody and sparkling in the light rain. Int. Car – Night. Jonny takes his jacket off and puts it over his head. Chris looks at him folorn and sighs. Chris Who’s There? Jonny Its too late now, Im not interested. Chris Stop being an idiot Guy.. Who’s there? Jonny I’m Jonny! Chris Well you had your coat on your head, how was I supposed to know? Jonny Hmmmm… Chris So who’s there? Jonny Well we have to start at the beginning if you are actually gojng to do it. Chris Right then. Go on… Jonny Right. Jonny takes the jacket off his head and is smiling keenly. Jonny (cont.) Right, Knock Knock… Chris Who’s There? Jonny The Interrupting Sheep. Chris The Interrupting Shh…. Jonny BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Jonny falls about laughing while Chris remains silent. He looks out of the window and the tall black figure walking slowly towards the car. Chris I had a dream this would happen. Jonny That what would happen? Chris That he would find us. Jonny He? What do you mean he? Chris points at the figure who by now is roughly 50 metres from the car. Jonny But I thought you were joking about that whole thing… Chris shakes his head and closes his eyes. Jonny immediately tries to open the door but it is locked. Jonny Chris.. Chris we’ve got to get out. We have to leave now! Chris what have you done? Chris looks out at the figure which is now 5 metres from the car and breathes a fine mist onto the window obscuring the tall dark man. As Jonny panics at the unknown even that is about to take place, Chris draws a heart in his spit, reaches over to the stereo and presses play. The End Jed hows that?
