what capos do basicly, is raising the pitch of the song (half a step for every fret you go towards the bridge). As this is capo 1, without a capo you'd need to change these chords by raising them half a step: D becomes D#, G becomes G#, Em becomes Fm and so on.

its great! what gear were you using there (amp, pedals, etc.)

2 frets=1 step =/= tone step: interval between two consecutive scale degrees tone is a whole different thing... ricardo, espero que entiendas español, dado que eres de mejico... la diferencia de notas entre 1 traste (o fret) y otro es siempre de 1/2 paso (o step). Te daré un ejemplo, siendo lo mas claro posible pues no se cuanto sabes de musica y de la guitarra. Vamnos a dar por sentado que tenemos la guitarra con la afinación estandar EADGBe (Mi La Re Sol Si Mi). la 3era cuerda tocada al aire (sin ningun dedo sobre el mastil), equivale a la nota Sol (G). Si presionas sobre el primer traste de esa cuerda y la tocas, la nota será un sol sostenido (G# o G sharp). Como ves, ha subido solamente medio paso o step. Espero que te haya servido. ;)

the Em in the verse and prechorus should be an E.

perdon miguel, te respondo en español entonces. ese interruptor del que hablas es simplemente el que te deja cambiar de receptor o pickup en la guitarra... no es ningun efecto, sino que basicamente cambia el tono porque cambias el pickup elegido. la mayor parte de las guitarras tienen dos o tres pickups, uno cerca del cuello de la guitarra y otros en el medio y del otro lado. ese interruptor te permite elegir cual utilizaras.

this is great! the tempo is a little fast though, and its tuned half step down from the original, but as it suits my vocal range better, its excellent! :D

you shoulkd check him out... hes a genius. he recorded every single instrument on one of his albums, though he is one of the greatest pianists ive ever heard ( his music is even more piano-based than coldplay's).

maybe the string was too tight... it has happened to me before... were the strings new or did they come with the guitar? maybe they were old strings...

miguel, y believe what your talking about is just the pickup selector switch. its not an effect or anything similar, it just lets you choose which pickup (or pickups) you are going to use. Most electric guitars have 2 or 3 pickups: one located near the neck ("neck pickup"), one near the bridge ("bridge pickup") and possibly one in between ("middle pickup"). With the pickup selector, you can select which pickups are active. Each pickup detects string vibrations at different locations along the string's length; this makes every pickup sound different.
