Ever been to Coldplay concert solo?
Not sure if you've been to that concert yet alone... I just went to the Montreal gig solo. I'm a really shy person, I generally hate going places alone, but I had a super fantastic time. I had a floor seat (I was initially in the stands but my friend couldn't make it so I took her ticket), and it couldn't have been better! Remember, you're not alone, you're with thousands of other people at one mega party :D

Concert Merchandise
I agree. There wasn't anything outstanding in terms of merch. However, the concert program is really beautiful approx. 40 pages full colour. Your best bet for value at 20$ CAD. I also got the sticker sheet (temporary insanity - I don't know why I paid 8$ for 3 stickers). The mug is nice but overpriced, in my opinion (20$). The canvas bag is ok too (also 20$ CAD). I believe the bib was 15$

The show was completely amazing. It's so nice to see a band that enjoys being onstage as much as we enjoy being in the audience! The only way I can describe it is that it was a complete party from beginning to end, with the highlight being Lovers in Japan. Does anyone remember at which point Chris played a small bit of Erik Satie's Six Gnossiennes 1? (it was maybe 30-45 seconds)

Does anyone know what the view is like for DERRIERE SCENE tickets? (for example section 104, 204, etc)? I've seen these tickets available for Coldplay and for other concerts, is there any view at all?

Guy worked again with Magne Furuholmen for two projects (Updated 21 Aug 2008)
I believe that it is only available as part of the exhibit (which kind of sucks as I won't be near Norway any time soon - LOL)-- when you walk through the exhibit at the museum you get one of those little individual players to listen to as you walk through the exhibit. I don't think it's available anywhere else, but if I hear otherwise, I'll let you know!

Guy worked again with Magne Furuholmen for two projects (Updated 21 Aug 2008)
...and now it seems Chris Martin has collaborated with Magne as well. From Agderposten.no today. Snippet of the article: For the installation by the Norwegian artist Pernille Gormsen, located among the trees at Hove, Furuholmen has made the music together with Coldplay-vocalist Chris Martin. Furuholmen has later transformed and adapted the recordings to this installation. Any reaction to his own sound installation is welcome, Furuholmen says. Because that can provide him with possibilities of adding additional dialogue. (translated by Jakob on the a-ha West of the Moon forum)

Coldplay accused of copying 'Viva La Vida' melody
I think that the fact that Coldplay has said more than once that they "plagarize" or "borrow" or anything to that effect opens themselves up to this sort of thing happenning. They should stop saying that and admit that they are a unique band with a unique sound. Period. I think you can find similarities between any two bands of the same genre if you really try to...

Hello everyone going to the Montreal show :D I have to decide whether to go with Section 114, Row W tickets or Floor, Row GG. My friend is willing to switch tickets with me as she's not a huge fan (I know! The horror!) Does anyone know which of the following two configurations is accurate for the Bell Centre (they are slightly different, see the stage placement)? Which ticket would be better for me, bearing in mind that I am about 5 foot 5 inches with heels on. thanks! Suzie

Coldplay Canada Pre-Sales
LOL, you drive hard bargain! But I understand where you are coming from: I recently went to a concert at Royal Albert hall and was sad that I was in Row 6 instead of Row 1.:smug: heehee I'm happy with my seats (might get my friend to swap her floor GG ticket for my section 114 one :laugh3:) But I've never seen them before so it's different I suppose. Good luck and I hope you get the ticket you want before the presale ends (or in the general sale).

Yep, those would be great tickets. Can't argue with that! :laugh3: Montreal tix are already up on ebay, some of the prices are crazy!
-
Coldplay Canada Pre-Sales
Wow! That's better than GG! :D What do you consider a good ticket? (just curious!)

Last Album that you bought/acquired?
Morten Harket - Letter from Egypt ...and I pre-ordered Viva la Vida of course ;)

They are already gone? A friend of mine had held out and got the floor GG ticket the same minute I posted the message (she also wanted two tix, one for her and a friend but then, like me, ended up getting a single). I had hoped the info would help someone else out. Sorry! I guess the point is, keep trying throughout the day and you might get lucky, that is, if you are willing to take the chance! Good luck!

Urgh! Just heard that floor seats are now avaiable for Montreal (at least if you are purchasing one ticket!) A friend just got GG

Wow, that's a high price to pay, but the good thing is you got a floor ticket! Congrats!

Holy crow! First off, I'd like to thank the kind soul who offered up her best buy code to me when the Winnipeg show was cancelled (you know who you are! :D ) But wow, what a mess. First off, yesterday the Montreal presale was listed as starting at NOON. Then this morning, it says 10 am. I suspect that there will be a lot of unhappy campers out there. Then, at 10 am I got in right away to puchase my tickets. Got 2 seats in 114, row N, which I was pretty happy with. THEN, the unthinkable! I got the stupid "type the code in the box" thing wrong (nerves I guess), and my tickets were released!!!! I though they were supposed to give you two minutes to complete the purchase! Damn you Ticketmaster!!! :o So I tried again, and there was nothing in the 97$ range, and this was like 30 seconds later. :-( So, I proceded to buy a single ticket in the 114 section, about ten rows back from the original seats I got. Bummed that I have to go alone now. But I guess I can't complain too much 114, Row W isn't too bad, right?

ALL FANS... LETS STEP BACK AND RE-ASSESS
Hi nlgb1, I can't say I agree, as this new album blew me away instantaneously, whereas, for me, X & Y had to grow on me. That said though, I understand the feeling as I've felt that way about other bands' work (I really really invested a lot of time and money in them (concerts, transatlantic flights to see them, every version of every country release CD in my collection, etc, etc, ) and NEEDED to love the albums, and I wasn't anymore  ) Why not just take a step back then? Buy the album and go to the shows (otherwise you'll regret it someday), but listen to other stuff/other bands that gives you that feeling of delight for the time being... Go back to the new album later, maybe even in a few weeks and you might feel differently about it. For me there's something about having the actual CD in my hands, where I can listen along with the lyrics and really appreciate all facets of the work.

Coldplay Canada Pre-Sales
I know what you mean! Some of those codes are selling for 50$-ish and that's no guarantee that you'll even get a ticket. Nevertheless, I am considering buying a code. Please don't throw tomatos at me. I've never seen Coldplay live and have loved them for ages, and I just don't see how I'll get a ticket without taking part in the presale. :\ I signed up for the Best Buy thingie too late. Grrrrrr. Does anyone know when the Montreal pre-sale starts? Ticketmaster says noon Thursday, but some of the ebay listings say 10 am. Suzie
