i don't know! i love them! i love all their songs which includes the ep's and b-sides. the fact that they are more mainstream doesn't matter at all. i say good for them they are attracting more fans and who doesn't want that as a band? i mean if they weren't attracting new people then the old fans would tire of them eventually. but i think they are not necessarily getting better because they aren't bad. they are getting better because they are experimenting with new sounds. if they made like 10 fix you's i would die. so yes they are getting better but not because they were ever bad!
