You can reply when you want without it being weird. It's unfortunate, really, but I'm no good at keeping a conversation going with someone in person unless I'm really good friends with them/have known them a long time.

Oh ok! The same sort of thing happened to me in Houston, except it was me that saw people and didn't say hi. I couldn't. I was with my mom and my friend. I saw Angie and a guy and another guy, I can't remember their names. But really. I want to meet you people. I need to start traveling alone. Hah I'm the only one who hasn't phone talked or skyped.
